A new video update from Steve on the impact of community.

03/17/2026

What does it really look like when stability begins to take hold?

In this short update, Steve reflects on something simple, but meaningful.

A donated guitar.
A few books.
A small act of generosity from someone in the community.

On the surface, it may not seem like much. But moments like this create space for people to relax, express themselves, and reconnect with who they are beyond survival.

This is how stability grows.

And over time, it begins to elevate what’s possible.

▶️ Take a minute to watch Steve’s update.

Most people think stability is something dramatic.

A big turning point.
A moment where everything suddenly changes.

But what we see every day at Stepping Stone is something different.

Stability usually begins quietly.

It begins when someone knows where they will sleep tonight.
When meals happen at the same time each day.
When staff show up, again and again, with consistency and respect.

Those steady rhythms may not look extraordinary from the outside. But for someone who has been living in uncertainty, they change everything.

When stability becomes real, people can begin to breathe again, think about the future, and reconnect with who they are beyond survival.

That quiet foundation is where rebuilding begins.

Honored to Be Nominated

Last Friday, members of the Stepping Stone Emergency Housing team attended the Greater Stillwater Chamber of Commerce Community Award Gala, where we were honored to be nominated for Non-Profit of the Year.

Although we did not receive the award, we are deeply grateful to be considered—especially as a relatively new organization serving the Stillwater area through our Emergency Housing Services Building.

It was a wonderful evening celebrating the many individuals, businesses, and organizations that help make the St. Croix Valley such a strong and caring community.

Thank you to the Greater Stillwater Chamber of Commerce for the nomination and for hosting such a meaningful event.

Sometimes healing begins with something as simple as a song.

Recently, Bob Brace, owner of Red Bird Music Store New Richmond WI 54017, stopped by with a very meaningful gift for residents at our Stillwater Emergency Housing Services Building.

Bob donated a guitar that is special to him, along with lesson books, song books, extra strings, picks, a capo, case, and stand. The guitar once belonged to someone close to him who is no longer with us, making the gift even more meaningful.

For residents rebuilding stability in their lives, music can be incredibly powerful. Picking up a guitar, learning a few chords, or simply sharing music with others can reduce stress, build connection, and create moments of peace.

Thanks to Bob’s generosity, residents will now have that opportunity.

Thank you, Bob, for sharing both music and heart with our community.

This gift is helping us grow a small music space in our recreation room where residents can relax, play, and connect.
