At 6pm on Wednesday July 8th people across the US read the Declaration of Independence, out loud, in public places.
I had the opportunity to join Mayor Jarod Littmann, Alderwoman Janice Allsup-Johnson, Alderman Brooks Schandelmeier and Poet Laureate Jeff Holland on the steps of City Hall.
Despite the sun in our eyes and the never-ending traffic down Duke of Gloucester, we were able to read every word of the Declaration, just as leaders did in 1776!
