As a Black-owned environmental business rooted in Maryland, BBE understands that protecting our natural resources is more than conservation work â it is personal. From the Chesapeake and Coastal Bays to our rivers, forests, farmland, and the landscapes stretching from the mountains of Western Maryland to the Atlantic coast, our environment is deeply connected to the health, culture, and future of our communities.
We believe true stewardship comes from lived connection to the land, environmental education, practical climate awareness, and empowering local communities to lead sustainable change for future generations. Marylandâs communities are facing increasing environmental threats caused by pollution, climate change, and decades of inequitable investment. These challenges continue to disproportionately impact Black communities, under-resourced neighborhoods, and our youth.
At BBE, we believe environmental justice and economic opportunity must go hand in hand. Building thriving and resilient communities means preparing Maryland residents for careers in sustainability, conservation, restoration, and the growing green workforce economy. Through equitable workforce development, education, and community-centered environmental action, BBE is committed to creating pathways for the next generation to protect our environment while building long-term economic stability for their families and communities.
