How our everyday choices affect the Bay, our waterways, our wildlife, and our communities — and how we can protect what protects us.

Why food sovereignty matters, how gardening strengthens families, and how growing even a little can change a lot.

Understanding what your plants REALLY need to thrive — without the chemicals.

Safe, effective, chemical‑free options for keeping your garden healthy and your harvest strong.

Black farmers and environmental leaders have always been at the heart of community resilience. Saturday's workshop will be about reclaiming that legacy, building new skills, and planting seeds for a healthier, stronger future.

---> TODAY WAS A HALLMARK MOMENT AT ASBURY BROADNECK United Methodist Church! ✨ Asbury Broadneck UMC
Before the skies opened up and the rain came pouring down, something beautiful happened at Asbury Broadneck United Methodist Church in Annapolis with their youth summer camp.

For years, Breaking Boundaries Environmental LLC (BBE) has been honored to serve this historic Black community — planting trees across the church grounds, helping spearhead the Ephemeral Channel Restoration at the ABUMC cemetery, and now providing youth environmental education and understory planting. Today, that long‑term vision came full circle.

11–14 year‑olds gathered just before the storm to explore the world of green and blue infrastructure — the fastest‑growing industry on the planet. We talked about nature‑based careers, environmental justice, farming and its importance today, and how caring for the land is a form of service, stewardship, and spiritual connection.

We toured the multi‑acre lot, observing the recently planted trees and, over the last few years, discussing with them how to maintain them, and discussed why tree care is an act of love — for community, for creation, for self, and for God.

Then the youth got dirty!
Together they planted 11 understory pollinator plants — not just any plants, but species chosen for their ecological duty:

Wild Bergamot
Purple Coneflower
Orange Coneflower
New England Aster

They added soil, mulched each plant, and finished before dismissal at 3 PM… just in time for the sky to open up and the rain to bless the recently planted land.

Today wasn’t just an activity — it was a milestone. A plan set in motion years ago by our ancestors and is now showing real roots and real fruits.

This is why a thriving business sector matters. Legislators can pass bills, write policies, and create programs — but without strong, community‑centered businesses to implement them, the work doesn’t reach the people. BBE is a shining example of the Public‑Private Partnership (PPP) model working exactly as intended, grounded in environmental justice and natural resource stewardship.

Today was more than a workshop with some youth, these youth were my family, my extended branches of loved ones. As we toured the cemetery, my only thought was, legacy-building. It was joy. It was purpose, it was a moment of a sense of freedom.
We are proud.
And these youth? They’re the future — and the future looks bright.

We are honored to partner with Mt. Pleasant Acre Farms, Xavier Brown, Nature’z Daughter, Community Healing, and others to welcome an incredible group of youth from Anacostia for a day of learning, connection, and inspiration.

Together, we explored the joys of farming, planted crops, discovered the importance of environmental sustainability, and showed how caring for the land also means investing in healthier communities and brighter futures. When we finished everything, it began to rain! True blessing.

From getting their hands and feet in the soil to learning where food comes from, these young leaders experienced firsthand the power of agriculture to transform lives.

This is more than farming—it's about cultivating knowledge, building confidence, strengthening community, economic development, and planting seeds of opportunity that will grow for generations to come.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this day possible. We look forward to continuing this work and creating more opportunities for our youth to reconnect with the land, the environment, and each other.

CROIX, U.S. Virgin Islands — [July 2, 2026] — Breaking Boundaries Environmental, LLC (BBE) and Nature's Daughter LLC today announced the successful coordination and sale of Nutreent soil restoration technology to a seven-acre banana and cacao farm in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, marking an important milestone in advancing regenerative agriculture, climate resilience, and sustainable food production throughout the Caribbean.

The project represents a growing movement toward nature-based agricultural solutions that improve soil health, strengthen food systems, increase farm productivity, and help agricultural communities adapt to the impacts of climate change. The collaboration demonstrates how innovative environmental technologies can create meaningful local benefits while contributing to global sustainability goals.

Nutreent's soil enhancement technology is designed to support soil biological activity, nutrient cycling, root development, water retention, and overall ecosystem health. By improving the functionality of soil systems, the technology offers farmers an opportunity to strengthen long-term productivity while reducing environmental pressures associated with degraded soils and nutrient loss.

The St. Croix farm produces both banana and cacao crops—two economically and culturally important agricultural products throughout tropical regions. Through this initiative, the farm will implement regenerative soil management practices designed to improve crop performance, increase resilience to drought and extreme weather events, and enhance long-term sustainability.

Over the last year, Breaking Boundaries Environmental (BBE) hasn’t just been talking about change — we’ve been in the soil doing the work. BBE has been farming, feeding, planting, and building power in Black communities too often ignored and under resourced.
We’ve been serving food deserts throughout the Mid-Atlantic region because access to fresh, healthy food should never depend on your tax bracket. Our people deserve nourishment, ownership, sustainability, and systems built FOR us BY us.
At the same time, BBE has been on the frontlines of environmental restoration through Maryland’s 5 Million Trees Initiative — helping restore our land while creating opportunities for our communities to reconnect with agriculture, nature, and generational wealth.
And just THIS WEEK, BBE planted nearly 200 trees including in partnership with the MD Reentry Program and a family owned farm called Mt Pleasant Acres Farm on th eastern shore (Harriet’s Grove) and Naturez Daughter

Always a good sign when you plant trees and it rains the same day. BBE wrapped up a tree planting today as part of WSA’s Replant Annapolis program. BBE is a recognized business vendor as part of the state of Maryland’s 5 Million Trees Initiative.

To date, BBE has planted thousands of trees and it rained today right after planting 15 trees in a historic part of Parole, and Eastport of Annapolis. Shot out to the community because without them none of this would’ve possible!
