Thanks to a generous grant from Ann Arbor Kiwanis, SICT was able to purchase many books requested by the families we serve. The Dogman series by Dav Pilkey is a favorite, as is Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney, Dr. Seuss , The Magic Treehouse series by Mary Pope Osborne, space-themed and horse-themed books. We try to purchase requested titles, along with new and soon-to-be favorites , and can’t wait to get this recent shipment into little hands.

VOLUNTEER FROM HOME!

We’re looking for volunteers to upload recordings and send out books from incarcerated parents to their children.

Once the books come out of the institution, they have to be loaded on a computer in a secure file, a QR code printed and the book mailed to the caregiver. You can work from home and potentially make a trip to the post office.

but they can still read them a story. With just 3 hours a month, you can help make that moment possible.

We’re looking for volunteers to facilitate recorded reading sessions between incarcerated parents and their children at the Washtenaw County Jail or Huron Valley Women’s Prison.
Your role is simple but powerful:
✔️ Support the reading session
✔️ Ensure a safe, positive experience for everyone

These small moments of connection build confidence, comfort, and love—even across walls.
