Our volunteers came together to clean, sort, and prep donated shoes—turning used gear into new opportunities for athletes who need it most. Every pair cleaned is a step toward confidence, access, and a fair shot to compete.

The SunBundle’s fall has been busy! We’re excited to share everything we’ve been up to since the start of the school year 😊

In September, both of our student chapters at the University of Michigan and Michigan State returned to campus. We welcomed students back, hosted social events, and expanded our SunBundle family. Later that month, we headed to Detroit Renaissance to connect with their athletes. They asked great questions about balancing academics and athletics, the recruiting process, our journeys, and so much more. While we were there, we donated just under 100 pairs of shoes to support these athletes in their upcoming seasons! 👟🏃‍♂️😇

This fall, we also partnered with Global Educational Excellence (GEE). Throughout the semester, we provided over 220 pairs of shoes and 70+ tops, as well as socks, hats, shorts, and more! 🎽👟

Additionally, we connected with local high schools to collect equipment from areas with excess resources. Northville High School, Ann Arbor Pioneer, and Greenhills helped us collect shoes throughout the semester. After collecting shoes, we partnered with Greenhills for our first high school cleaning event. Hosted at the Ross Impact Studio we cleaned all the spikes in our inventory to prepare them for the upcoming track season. Thank you to Moses Lee for helping facilitate this partnership!🪣🧽🫧

We also dropped into two CLR events in Ypsilanti to see the program in action and play sports with the kids. CLR is an amazing organization that provides a space for kids to play freely, learn important skills, and build community. We are so excited to maintain this relationship and attend more of these events in the future. ⚽️⛹️‍♂️

Throughout it all, we’ve been working with
FILMIC, a Michigan Film Club to create a short video showcasing all things SunBundle. We are SO excited to share the final clip in the coming months! 🎬

Finally, we created and launched our newsletter through Mailchimp to keep everyone up to date on all our events, partnerships, and ways to get involved. If you’re interested in learning more, subscribe via our website! ☀️

The SunBundle has been busy since the last time we posted! ☀️We had a busy and exciting summer including the following events:

In May, the University of Michigan chapter partnered with Project Healthy Schools and Milk Means More at their Maize and Blue Healthy You event. We spent the day with 500 middle schoolers at The Big House for a day of fun, fitness, and health education〽️🏃‍♂️. Upstate, the Michigan State chapter hosted their first outreach event at Pattengill Middle School, connecting and empowering young track and field athletes at their practice by sharing our stories and donating equipment.👟

Then in June, SunBundle went west! ✈️ We visited Stanford Athletics to explore what scaling The SunBundle nationally could look like. 🌍 We saw firsthand both the opportunities and the potential impact ahead. A highlight of our trip was hearing from Olympian, Juliette Whittaker. Despite having access to incredible gear throughout her collegiate team and NIL sponsorships, Juliette shared how her experiences have left her passionate about giving back and ensuring that athletic resources don’t go to waste♻️.

In July, we hosted a cleaning event 🧼 in collaboration with Fleet Feet Michigan and made 200 bundles that were donated to local schools. Additionally, we partnered with RISE and SAY Detroit Play Center at their RISE Together: Southeast Michigan High School Boys Soccer Workshop & Scrimmage event. ⚽️ Here, 100 boys from different backgrounds came together to celebrate their similarities and differences, learn about team building, and play some soccer before their season started. We donated bundles to all kids in attendance and got to connect with their coaches to hear their stories. 😇

At the beginning of August we teamed up with Nike and Running Lab Brighton with the help of Grace PaneGasser for the launch of the new Vomero Plus! ✔️We kicked things off with a group run, then collected donations before entering participants into a raffle for a free pair of shoes. Later that month, we were happy to be featured in The Michigan Daily- in an article featuring our Founder Yasmine Mansi and co-worker, Clare McNamara, detailing their involvement in the program and plans moving forward. 🗞️

We also wanted to shout out Tokyo Olympian and professional runner, Mason Ferlic, for donating over $8,000 worth of gear to our organization and taking the time to sit down with us and share what his experience with The SunBundle has meant to him. 🏅

Lastly, we held interviews and finalized our student orgs at both University of Michigan and Michigan State University, laying the foundation for the rest of the year! 🧱

We can’t wait to keep working and share with you what we have in store for the next year, we hope you all follow along! ☀️🏃‍♀️👟
