From Wishing to Building

Akoma is a project of heart and passion, birthed from the imagination of Dominique; Its sole purpose is to create spaces that inspire interpersonal wellness, community reconciliation, and creativity. March 2018, a week after her birthday, Dominique recommitted herself to the grounding practices of art, yoga, creative writing, and cooking. Reconnecting with these forms of expression to nurture herself, her social justice commitments, and leadership.

This self- exploration led to dreams of Akoma, a community wellness organization. Through this organization, Dominique offers yoga and creative experiences. Akoma offers black people, indigenous people, and people of color (BIPOC) the opportunity to learn and practice grounding and healing techniques in a community.
