Currently in Grade 5, Sharon Adhiambo began her education at Arise and Shine Nyamila in 2019. From the very start, she stood out as a talented, intelligent, and very jovial girl who refuses to let her difficult circumstances at home define her.
Every day, Sharon and her brother arrive at school smiling, encouraged by the fact that, despite the challenges at home, they are receiving education, meals, and books on scholarship - all thanks to our donors.
Her parents express their heartfelt gratitude to the school for supporting their daughter and giving her the chance to learn and grow without the burden of financial strain. This support gives her parents—and many others like them—hope for a brighter future for their children at Arise and Shine School.

The inaugural 7th grade class has officially begun its journey, marking an exciting milestone for our school community. This year, 32 students make up our very first cohort of 7th graders—each bringing curiosity, determination, and a strong sense of possibility.
Thanks to the generosity of our donors, 10 students in this class are attending on full scholarships.
Their enthusiasm reminds us why this work matters.

I am Jane Atieno, when I moved to Kisumu 18 years ago I joined Hope for the Child, which lifted the weight of school fees, food, and basic needs from my shoulders and carried me through primary school. I joined college in May 2021 to study Human Resource Management. For three and a half years, my tuition, rent, and transport were fully covered, with the help of the Hope for the Child director.
I am proud to be the first in my family to graduate, holding a Diploma in Human Resource Management. To HOPE FOR THE CHILD and Director Williams, thank you for your unwavering support, belief in my potential, and commitment to seeing me succeed. You helped me earn my crown, and I am forever grateful.

As we prepare to welcome our first-ever 7th grade class, consisting of 42 eager students starting this January, we recognize the importance of equipping them with the necessary tools for success. To ensure each student has the best possible start, we are seeking support for the purchase of essential items such as uniforms, school supplies, and lockers. By supporting these needs, we can create a nurturing and conducive learning environment that will help our students thrive in their new academic journey.

This summer, Reading the World made a vibrant return to Arise N' Shine schools! From collaborating closely with teachers to enhance phonics and measure student learning, to sparking a love of reading through engaging, hands-on activities, Kris Nystrom and his dedicated team, Julia Cohen and Nicole Jamieson, spent weeks inspiring students at Arise N' Shine Rural schools in Kisumu. To support their journey, Kris also donated a collection of books to the school.
