As we pack up our booth at a local flea market space we have had lots of questions . We started this idea as a pilot to see if there was a market for the sale of new and nice resale womens items to benefit Outfitters, Inc.. What we found in the 7 months we tested our pilot was that yes ! We found a way to utilize awesome donations , that teens wouldn’t wear , reduce waste and provide a new revenue source for Outfitters. In the 7 months we had our booth we raised more than $2,000 gross and with rent and some other minor expenses we were able to generate about $1,000 net for Outfitters. Those funds will be used to help provide more clothing to children throughout Madison County.

So what’s next? Our board is looking at some options like renting a larger space in an existing retail establishment in the Pendleton area or looking at ways to bring the boutique on the grounds of Outfitters . We hope to have a plan mid to end of April , because first is the Gala!

Many nonprofits utilize a resale component to help supplement their budgets with thrift stores , bookstores and home goods resale stores. We are excited to see how this idea will help Outfitters serve even more children in Madison County.
