Barney Wobbles is one of ten coonhound puppies rescued from a difficult situation. He and his nine siblings are the result of two accidental, closely-timed breedings between a mother and daughter coonhound on a single hunting trip. Two puppies from the original two litters, born one week apart, sadly did not survive.

The puppies' owner, who is disabled and cares for a brain-injured son, was struggling to provide proper nutrition. The puppies were discovered by an animal rescue volunteer who, while picking up hay from the farm, also noted that a neighbor had been shooting at the dogs with BB guns. The volunteer immediately took in one severely injured puppy, and Always Room for One More took the remaining littermates.

Upon arrival at the rescue, Mr. Wobbles went through a four-day period of not eating, which was followed by the development of tremors. The exact cause of the tremors is still unknown, with possibilities including rat poison, injury, or being an early sign of Parvovirus. He was, in fact, diagnosed with Parvovirus about a week after he was rescued.

Despite his challenging start, his "wobbly" gait, complicated history, and sweet face immediately won the hearts of everyone at Moo Moo Meadows. We have welcomed him as one of our own. Wobbles is scheduled for a vet visit this week, and we will share an update on any potential treatments for his tremor syndrome.

Sweet Lassie has made so much progress in the last few days. She is doing great with other dogs and cats. She is showing more interest in people, too! She has been enjoying time on the couch with our dogs AND with our family!

She will be ready to find her forever family soon! We hope to start accepting adoption applications this weekend as long as her great progress continues.

Please check back here for updates! If you would like to be among the first to know when she’s ready, please comment below or send us a pm.

Last week, we got a call about two horses in need of a place to land. Their owner was getting older and making the tough decision to downsize. Giving up animals that you’ve been with for more than a decade is not an easy decision, so we work with these owner surrenders with a great deal of care. Fancy and Chaco came to us on Friday and are doing great!
