Because of the huge success from our team roping fundraisers this year, we are able to award not one but TWO college scholarships for Fall 2026!

And that’s a wrap! The 7th Annual Buckets of Smiles Team Roping is finally complete! With equine sickness, schedule conflicts, and freezing weather, this year’s roping faced a few hurdles. We held the #10 and the dummy ropings today! We had 280 teams in the #10 today! We had 294 in the #8.5 in January, making this the biggest roping yet! We have grown every year! Thank you all so much for supporting this roping each year and helping kids with cancer. This year we are sponsoring a picnic for childhood cancer patients that just completed their treatments and will donate to the Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research to help find better treatments with fewer side effects. We also helped a local family currently fighting cancer. Thank you all so so much!

We will be awarding a one-time $1,000 cash scholarship to a high school senior in Alabama that has fought or is currently fighting a form of pediatric cancer. All applications are due April 1, 2026. Our Breakaway and # 8.5 Ropings were a huge success! This past weekend was full of fundraising and fellowship, and we’re so grateful for everyone who came out to participate!! This weekend always makes us reflect on how far this organization has come over the years because of each of you that continue to come back and help make an impact on childhood cancer patients across the country.

We have had several to inquire about the roping this weekend and the weather. So far, Saturday may be cool but will be a beautiful day! We will monitor the weather for Sunday and make a call on that mid-day Saturday. The Covington Arena is not available as it is booked out several months in advance, and as you all know, we had to reschedule from November to this weekend due to the EHV virus. We are moving forward with the roping for this weekend and we hope you all join us to help raise funds for pediatric cancer patients- after all, that’s what it’s really all about! So bring your layers, your blankets, we will have coffee and hot chocolate along with concessions and a fire pit to keep warm. See y’all Saturday!!
