One of the best parts of doing this festival is getting to see just how much talent there is in Alaska.

For all the “international” in our name, this festival also exists to support the artists in this state and give their work a real place to be seen.

Filmmakers, writers, musicians, actors. There is amazing work being made here.

We want to help showcase it and put it in conversation with films and artists from all over the world.

If you’re making something in Alaska, send it our way.

April 1 Earlybird Deadline is today!

Earlybird submissions close today for the Anchorage International Film Festival.

The work doesn’t exist without the people behind it. That’s what matters most to us, and it’s why we work hard to curate something that actually gives back to the filmmakers who show up. The Anchorage community is a big part of that. Curious, engaged, and ready to meet the work in the room.

If your film is ready, send it in.

And if you get in, come experience it for yourself.

You might not know us. And that’s okay.

Each December, when the days are shortest and winter has settled in, something unexpected happens across Anchorage. Theaters fill. Conversations spill into snowy streets. Filmmakers arrive from across the country and around the world. For ten days, our city becomes a gathering place for stories.

That’s the Anchorage International Film Festival.

We’ve been here for 25 years, but every season brings new faces, both on screen and in the audience. You don’t need to work in film. You don’t need special access. If you love a good story, you’re already invited.

December may feel far away right now. But the films that will light up those screens are being discovered, finished, and submitted as we speak.

So whether you’re a filmmaker thinking about sharing your work, or someone in Anchorage who’s never stepped into a festival screening before…

Welcome. We’re glad you found us.

🎬 🎞️ 🎬 🎞️ 🎬 🎞️ 🎬

We showed an incredible selection of 185 films at the Alaska Experience Theatre, E Street Theater, Bear Tooth Theatrepub, and Anchorage Museum.

Our first ever free community film night was a fantastic success thanks to our sponsors – the Anchorage Museum, EasyPark, Kaladi Bros, Northern Lights, Sound & Video, and our brave food truck vendors, Beignet Today and Reserva Venzolana.

Our filmmaker coffee chats were so tasty thanks to our breakfast sponsors – Biscuit Club, The Kobuk, Fire Island Rustic Bakeshop, Kaladi Bros., South Restaurant + Coffeehouse, Wooden Spoon Bagels, and The Wildbirch Hotel.

And, THANK YOU, ANCHORAGE, for celebrating independent cinema and for welcoming filmmakers from around the world who shared their storytelling with us. We hope to see you next year, December 4 - 13, 2026!
