Efrat will tell the story of how Lissan is turning language barriers into bridges by providing Hebrew language courses to Palestinian women, empowering hundreds of women each year to gain independence, access vital healthcare, and unlock employment opportunities, and discuss how grassroots education is creating sustainable social change in Jerusalem.
Lissan also creates opportunities for Jewish Israelis to learn Arabic, and invites Israelis and Palestinians to sit together, learn each otherโs languages and begin to imagine what a truly bilingual Jerusalem could look like. The Lissan dream is that one day, whether at a doctorโs office, a bus stop, or a playground, every Jerusalemite will be able to understand and be understood by each other.
