CANstruction is back for its 18th season, and this year, you get a say in the theme.

Which one should inspire the builds for CANstruction 2027?
⭐ Star Wars
🏙️ Architecture
⚡ Pokémon

Cast your vote and help choose the theme teams will bring to life at the Dimond Center this April.

Every CANstruction structure is built entirely from canned food, and every can is donated to Food Bank of Alaska to help provide food for Alaskans facing food insecurity.

Our final team - GHD Group and Reid Middleton, Inc. - is a long-standing one at CANstruction. This year, they're training a very special dragon, Toothless, to help fight hunger. A clever use of construction paper brings details to life - including veins in his wings and his repaired tail.

CRW Engineering Group, Inc. (Team 8) brought Smaug and his golden horde to life. His wicked grin guards his treasure, including a glowing orb. In-person, you can feel his rumbling. Maybe he's hungry too?

Team 7 - Kuna Engineering, NANA, and Nana Management Services - created a hunter to battle their Auroragon. Their hunter is using his skill and courage (and wicked ranch dressing spear) to battle the flaming hot cheeto dragon fire of hunger - and we are thankful for him. (If you check out Kuna's post, you can also see the awesome matching aloha shirts the build team sported.)

DOWL, HDR, and Michael Baker International (Team 6) brought Mushu from Mulan to life. With his kidney bean ears and spaghetti whiskers, he's inviting you to share a bowl of rice with him. He even has the chopsticks ready for you! (If you go in person, stand on the bench nearby to view him from above.)

Team 5 - Enterprise Engineering, Inc. - CANstructed the cutest baby dragon! From the tip of her tail and her cute red toes, to the tops of her soda pop horns; she is ready to pounce. Check out her herb nostrils and Ferrero Rocher eyes in person.

Our fourth team - RESPEC and Roger Hickel Contracting - has a mix of old and new builders. Their sleeping dragon guards their horde. If you check out the CANstructure in person, you can see the cool details - golden items for treasure, meat stick tracks, and a serious clever use of magnets. Beware the shiny teeth as you peek though!

Our second team's CANstructure is sailing through serpent infested waters. Coffman Engineers, Explore Design, and Highland Academy Charter School created a scene to behold with some really fun details including meat stick tongues, tuna splashes, and jiffy pop plating on the ship.
