The Ryan Swain Memorial Character and Leadership Scholarship has been established in honor and remembrance of Ryan Swain, a Centerpoint High School 2013-2014 Senior, that displayed extraordinary character, quite and humble leadership and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Ryan was tragically called Home by Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 7, 2013 while participating in one of his favorit
e activities, duck hunting. Ryan was always a young man of few words but was very attentive to others and always put other's needs before his own and showed the utmost respect to his teachers, coaches, teammates, and everyone he came in contact with. Ryan never desired to be the center of attention, nor was he one to "go along with the crowd" in order to fit in. Instead, he was comfortable with who he was and lived each day with respect to others and to himself. The things Ryan loved the most were God, family, Sports, (Baseball and Football), and hunting. Ryan was loved and respected by everyone he came in contact with whether at school or while participating in Baseball, Football, and Future Farmers of America (FFA) activities(in which he served as Vice President of his chapter). Through these activities, Ryan was able to meet, make friends with and impact so many people, locally and beyond. He was hard working, and always willing to help. Ryan's character could be seen in how he calmly reacted when an umpire made a bad call while he was batting or pitching, and his leadership came out not as loud-in-your-face, but as a strong, yet gentle example of how we as Christians, students, teammates and adults should lead our lives. Ryan Swain was the same person each day, each moment, on or off the field, or whether anyone was watching or not--living life fully with a smile on his face.
