🐷✨ Meet Sawyer Tomlin & “Elvis” ✨🐷
Sawyer Tomlin is excited to showcase his market hog, Elvis, at the Central Virginia Livestock Show & Sale this Friday and Saturday!

Sawyer is an impressive young showman, excelling in both the pig and cattle rings. He’s proud of the hard work he’s put into this project and is looking forward to a great weekend in the ring.

💬 Sawyer says:
“My market hog’s name is Elvis. He is a crossbred barrow. Elvis is full of muscle and a stout-featured pig. After only 2 years of showing pigs, they have become a favorite of mine because of their personalities.”

📅 Come support Sawyer:
• Friday night – Watch him in the show ring
• Saturday – Bid and support his project at the sale

🐖 Sawyer is currently the only pig exhibitor from Amherst, making this your only opportunity to purchase high-quality, locally raised pork from the area! He is still looking for buyers to support his project and take home some fresh pork.

If you’re interested in supporting Sawyer, please reach out and we’ll connect you with the Tomlin family.

Let’s pack the stands and support this hardworking young exhibitor! 👏🐷

In search of meat to fill your freezer?

May 1 & 2 — Central Virginia Livestock Show & Sale

Josiah may be just two years into 4-H livestock, but he’s already learning what it takes to earn success. Day by day, working with his goat, putting in the time, and figuring things out through patience and persistence.

As Josiah puts it:
"I have been doing 4-H livestock club for 2 years. I enjoy working with my goat and taking care of it. My goat teaches me to have patience and to keep working for the success that I want from it."

That mindset is what this program is all about — building young men who understand responsibility, hard work, and not giving up when things get tough.

On May 2, his goat will sell in the live auction. When you step up to bid, you’re not just buying quality product — you’re investing in a kid who’s putting in the effort to grow and succeed

If you’re interested in supporting Josiah or filling your freezer, reach out and we’ll get you connected.

We’re excited to introduce Tirzah and her lamb & goat, which will be available during the LIVE AUCTION on May 2! 🐑🐐

Tirzah shares:
"I have been doing 4-H livestock for 4 years. I enjoy the challenge of raising and teaching an animal to show. It has taught me that I have to work for what I want and perseverance. I hope to use the skills of animal care in the future as I want to become a vet."

Her dedication and passion truly shine through in her projects, and we couldn’t be more proud of the hard work she’s put in!

Part 2 of Livestock Weekend at Virginia Tech ✔️🐮
Amherst 4-H was proud to have a full Junior team and two Senior individuals representing us this weekend! The kids competed in both the Stockman’s Contest and Livestock Judging, giving it their all in some tough competition.

While we were on campus, parents made sure to give the kids a chance to explore everything Virginia Tech has to offer and of course there were plenty of nerves, giggles, and ice cream to keep us going through a long (but fun!) weekend.

So proud of these dedicated kids. Their hard work, long practices, and commitment do not go unnoticed. The future of agriculture is in good hands! 🌽🐷🐮
