Ambassadors Twirling Corps.

Ambassadors Twirling Corps. Our Corps began in the 1970’s under the name of The Getzville Senior-Junior Drum and Twirling Corps, Inc. In September of 2003 Mrs.

Founder, Isabel Dettmer, organized this non-profit group that included baton twirlers as well as a large drum corps. Since the beginning, the Corps participated in many parades, local contests, as well as traveling to contests such as States, Regional’s and Nationals. In 1991 the Corps changed its name to the Amherst Ambassadors. Dettmer retired from running the Amherst Ambassadors and for one yea

r it was run by Stephanie Shantz and Joanne Kowalski, parents of two Senior Twirlers. During that year they asked Jessica Tamburlin and Tamara Proctor to take over as Directors of the Corps. Both Jessica and Tamara have twirled since they were young and were excited for this new venture. In September of 2004 they became Co-Directors and renamed the corps The Ambassadors Twirling Corps

We have had a GREAT start to our new year!! Our youngest team twirlers are doing AMAZING, it is so great to see how they all practice at home and come back improving the trick by the next week!! They are all the seeetest little girls! Our Seniors celebrated Chloe and Alicia’s birthdays today, it’s always fun to have a cake break!

After our team practice for our little girls they are welcome to stay after for a 5 minute Bible study. Today we learned John 8:12 when Jesus said “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” We talked about how scary and dark Halloween is and that God doesn’t want us to be scared and he tells us in the Bible to not be afraid. Each twirler was given a glass pumpkin that lights up and every time they turn it on they are going to say “Jesus is shining his light in me” so they can be a bright light in this dark world.

Such a fun night!! We practiced our street parade routine for tomorrow's parade and had our end of year get together! During practice some neighborhood kids gave us a flier for a cotton candy sale they were having so we went for a walk to treat the twirlers and support the cute kids!! We had awards, dinner, fire baton, watched our 3 girls doing high school football games this fall, two crazy girls actually got in the pool with very cold water, and it was great hanging with the parents! We love our team!!

Our one day new twirler night was such a fun time with these five little sweeties!!! They are ages 3-6, it was a 2 hour class and these girls gave it their all, listened the ENTIRE time, learned so many new tricks, a little routine all in a 90 degree gym and not one complained or asked to go home!! What a joy to coach them and we can’t wait to start our new season with them!!!

If you’d like to come to our first night of practice all are welcome!! Wednesday, September 10 at Harlem Road Community Center. Comment or message us for more information if you like!!

Our first parade of the season and the Ambassador tradition continues - sound system problems 🤣🤣 I am feeling good that we have it figured out for tomorrow’s parade and there will be no problems!! Shout out to ALL our twirlers who marched half the parade with no music and still did their routines - so proud of them!!! I taught our littles to be birds so I could use water bottles for everyone- they thought it was so funny but they learned to let me poor the water in their mouth without touching the bottle 🤣 These girls are the cutest, funniest, sweetest girls that light up their coaches day every time we get together! Every single parent is amazing, helpful and caring too - we are truly blessed!!!

Last Wednesday our Littles came over for their parade and pool practice! They are ADORABLE!! They kept asking how many more times and I kept saying it’s up to you - when you can do it good without my help we are done! They worked super hard and listened great and then had fun swimming together with ice cream for a snack!

Baton Bridal Shower! The twirlers surprised Alexa with a bridal shower tonight instead of baton practice and she had absolutely no idea it was happening. Rob - aka Mr. Flannelman - also showed up. When the girls met Rob for the first time he had a flannel shirt on and ever since then they called him Mr. Flannelman. It was a wonderful night hosted at Chase & Jess's house whose idea this was and who organized the entire evening, we can't thank them enough. We truly have the beet parents ever on this team and we love their little girls so much, they make us so happy!!
