🆘 PLEASE STOP CHASING HIM 🆘

There are lots of people out searching for Mushu, but we are begging you: if you see him, DO NOT CHASE, DO NOT CALL OUT, DO NOT APPROACH. Please call us immediately. We are working closely with and doing everything we can to bring him home safely — but we need him to settle in one area so we can humanely trap him (with the professionals).

Mushu is in FLIGHT MODE. That means he is in a state of panic and survival — he will run if you look at him, he will run if you speak to him, and he will run if you throw food toward him. He is not thinking clearly. He is not looking for help. He is looking for safety and quiet. When he finds a calm, undisturbed spot, we will be able to safely and humanely trap him.

We know it’s hard not to help — but the absolute best thing you can do is observe from a distance and call us the moment you see him. Following, chasing, or calling out to him only pushes him farther into danger.

Why Missing Dogs Run?!

When dogs go missing, especially shy or recently adopted dogs, many enter flight mode, which is a deep, instinctive survival response. This means they are no longer reacting like the pet you knew — they are acting purely on fear. Even dogs who are normally friendly may not recognize familiar voices or people when in this state.

Flight mode dogs do not come when called. They often view people, even their owners, as a threat. Chasing or calling to them can drive them further into traffic, woods, or areas we can’t monitor. The most effective way to bring them home is to stay calm, avoid interaction and call the trained teams working on their recovery.

Let’s give Mushu the best chance at coming home safely. Thank you all for respecting these guidelines and helping us bring him back. ❤️

𝓒𝓪𝓵𝓵𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓪𝓵𝓵 𝓪𝓷𝓰𝓮𝓵𝓼…

From our very own Kate who is now helping GBP — “It’s taken a while to be able to make this post because I kept pretending it wasn’t true. But it is and my heart is broken but her strength keeps me pushing myself to give her the best life possible. My current foster Minka was found at just three weeks old all alone at a demolition site in TX, covered in painful wounds and infested with maggots. Her tiny body was weak, but her will to survive was already clear. While getting the care she needed, Minka soon developed aspiration pneumonia—yet she fought through. In December, she arrived at Gal’s Best Pal, seemingly recovered, but her symptoms returned almost immediately. Since then, she’s been on numerous medications and had tons of testing. Despite round after round of treatment and countless procedures, her X-rays showed no improvement. She has been the center of my world for the last 8 weeks showing nothing but unconditional love and fight.

Just weeks ago, her condition worsened—lethargy and respiratory distress led her back to the ER. After extensive testing, the heartbreaking diagnosis was confirmed: Emphysema, compounded by chronic lung disease and pneumonia in both lungs. Her condition is incurable, but manageable with antibiotics, airway dilators and nebulization treatments.

Today, Minka is stable and comfortable, living her best life surrounded by love and care. The commitment I feel to her is huge and I won’t stop fighting for her. The compassion my children have learned is invaluable. She is playful, affectionate, and determined. But flare-ups are inevitable, and she will need someone special when those come.

This is not a regular adoption.
This is heartbreak waiting on the horizon.
This is love, stretched to its most selfless form.

We’re looking for someone who will give Minka the life she deserves while she lives her diagnosis out. Someone who can handle the heavy truth that her story may be short—but still deserves a beautiful ending.”

CUTE LOCAL PUPPY ALERT 🔔 meet BATMAN!

This 9 week + 6 pound lowrider is with our friends Gals Best Pal and now fostered by one of our team members along with a littermate.

Batman and sibs were born and raised in a home since birth and have been handled by kids, around resident dogs, and cats too.

Mom (we will put pic in comments) is on the smaller side and dad is unknown but what we do know is that Batman is well on his way to being a very good boi. He’s great in a crate, training on p*e pads, loves everyone he meets, and will be the bright spot of your every day.

Batman will continue to thrive with training and the socialization that all puppies do. A puppy calculator says he could be around 30 pounds when full grown based on his current age and weight but this is rescue so we always exoect surprises.

𝐃𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐛?! 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐌𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨𝐨! On his very first night in his foster home, he was a star participant at bookclub ⭐️

Sometimes things don’t work out as planned. Munchkin is back with Rescue Inc through no fault of his own. When a six month old + overgrown puppy is returned to rescue, we never quite know what we are going to get but Munchkin has surprised us all with his resiliency and desire to be part of a family. 𝙃𝙚𝙧𝙚’𝙨 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙈𝙪𝙣𝙘𝙝𝙠𝙞𝙣 𝙝𝙖𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙖𝙮 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙝𝙞𝙢𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛…

“Heya I’m MUNCHKIN! I’m 6 months old of happy and weigh 60 lbs. I am house trained and crate trained too. While I LOVE an invite to sleep on the couch, I am comfortable in my crate as well.

I enjoy being outside with my foster family. They take me on fun adventures to the woods and also around our neighborhood, I love saying hi to everyone along the way. Car rides are fun for me but I might need a b***y boost to get in. When I’m hanging out at home I have fun with my toys, chasing balls in the yard, and carrying sticks everywhere. The world is better with lotsa sticks!

When I met my foster parents for the first time, it was love at first sight! We instantly connected and I’m hoping to find someone to love me like they do. I have a human foster brother who I’m getting to know too. I get really happy when my human foster sister brings her doggo to visit! We have the best time together. As much as I love to walk and play, when all is quiet I enjoy a good snuggle on the couch with my foster Mom. She’s the bestest!

A little bit more about me…I was one of 13 local puppies that Rescue Inc brought into their program after my birth mom tragically passed away when we were still nursing. We live BIG everyday in her memory. My littermates and I were loved and well cared for by some amazing foster moms we all grew to be big and strong. My littermates have all gone home and it’s my turn now, again!

𝙍𝙮𝙙𝙚𝙧––𝙤𝙝 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙬𝙚 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩 𝙗𝙤𝙮. He’s great with everyone he meets! He currently lives with two dogs and a cat. In the south, he lived with kiddos too and he's never met a stranger.

Ryder is approx 1 year old and a compact 35 pounds and fostered in Somerville MA. Though he lives in an urban area, he enjoys his fenced yard very very much. He thrives with routine, structure, and LOVE. He is a champion napper but spends most of his outside time in the yard so leash walking is a work in progress since it hasn't been necessary in his foster home.

Says his foster parents––“Ryder is very sweet and wags his tail immediately upon seeing new people. He loves to cuddle while looking out the window and loves tennis balls. He has warmed up very nicely to both of our dogs and loves to play. He shows interest in the cats but does not chase. He's just curious. He sleeps through the night and his house trained too.

Ryder's favorite activities continue to be:

1. Backyard exploration
2. Snuggles with humans and dogs alike
3. Neighborhood watch from the living room window where he regularly falls asleep on duty!

Ryder is such a sweet snuggly boy. He just wants to cuddle with people or pups. He loves to play tug and keep away with our dogs. Personal space is not in his vocabulary as he sees humans as seats and petting machines. He also loves to follow us around the house and keep tabs on everyone. He does fantastic in his crate at bed time as he is fairly easy to lure in with treats. He doesn't even make a p*ep until he hears someone get up in the morning.”

𝙎𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝙍𝙮𝙙𝙚𝙧’𝙨 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙧--"Ryder has Insecurity around meeting new dogs and needs slow introductions. He's super bombproof with fosters' dogs. Shares, cuddles, snuggles, listens, plays appropriately from everything I've seen from them”. This trainer will support Ryder and his transition into his new home.

𝙎𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙢𝙤𝙢—“Munchkin has taken no time to settle in like one of the family. He is crate trained and potty trained. He is thoroughly enjoying walk time and every time the door opens now he comes running. He has met people and other dogs when walking and he is interested but handles it well.

He got to meet our grand dog Meeka (Rescue Inc alum “Jo”) and they became good friends. They played, walked and crashed enjoying every minute.

Munchkin LOVES a good belly rub, enjoys snuggle time and gives great kisses.
He has lots of love to give and will be a great addition to a good home.”

𝙒𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙨𝙖𝙞𝙙, 𝙬𝙚 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙚𝙭𝙘𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙥𝙖𝙨𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙘𝙝 𝙤𝙛 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙗𝙚𝙖𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙛𝙪𝙡 𝙞𝙨𝙤𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙛𝙖𝙘𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙞𝙣 𝘼𝙢𝙚𝙨𝙗𝙪𝙧𝙮 𝙈𝘼 𝙩𝙤 𝙖𝙣𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙘𝙪𝙚 𝙜𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙥. One of their founders helped in the development of this facility several years ago and we know this special place will be in good hands. We are especially happy to know it will continue to serve a very underserved population of dogs from other parts of the country that are in dire need. Rescue Inc has offered our support through the transition and look forward to seeing them thrive in their new home. They are prepping for their official announcement which we will share once posted. They have lots in the works and we do not want to steal their thunder!

We have a couple of adult dogs lingering in our program (like Ryder here) that really really need their forever homes. Along with a fantastic 6 month old puppy returned to the program just yesterday (no fault of his own and not yet posted online).
