Ames Community Arts Council

Ames Community Arts Council The Ames Community Arts Council is an umbrella organization dedicated to celebrating the arts. Drop us a message, and we'll set up a time to connect.

The Ames Community Arts Council is a non-profit 501(3)(c) organization dedicated to celebrating the arts since 1976. The Arts Council connects the public to vocal and instrument concerts, dance and theater performances, visual arts exhibits, unique shopping, cultural events, arts classes and more through the on-line community calendar and weekly email newsletter. The Arts Council works to provide

opportunities for artists and cultural experiences for the public through projects such as the Art in Education grants and the Back Alley Gallery. We honors local artists and art supporters through the annual Arts Awards Celebration. We're always "working from home!" While we do not have a physical office location, we are happy to meet for coffee at any time! We've also become masters of the Zoom call, if you want the in-person experience from your own living room!

📣 We need just 2 more campers to make our Story Creation Experience camp happen next week!

In this creative camp, students will work together to dream up characters, build a world, create a story, and bring their ideas to life through theatre and imagination. It's a fantastic opportunity for young artists who love storytelling, acting, writing, and collaborative play!

Registration has been extended through Saturday at 11:59PM, but we must reach our minimum enrollment in order to run the camp.

Know a young storyteller who would love this experience? Tag a friend, share this post, and help us spread the word!

Registration closes Saturday night!

The Mesa String Quartet—Michael Li and Simay Zhu, violins; Erin Cho, viola; and Sailesh Srinath, cello—will provide entertainment during the 2026 Arts Awards Celebration. The quartet formed after meeting in high school orchestra and bonding over their love of music. Casual rehearsals soon grew into a dedicated pursuit, shaped by guidance from private teachers, orchestra directors, and coachings from Julie Henson. They value collaboration and strive to make chamber music meaningful and accessible for the Ames community and beyond.

Enjoy their performance at Reiman Gardens (1407 University Blvd.) on Sun., May 17 at 1:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be available. The Arts Awards Celebration—an annual event of the Ames Community Arts Council—is free and open to everyone, offering a welcoming space to celebrate creativity in our community.

The Ames Water Treatment Plant is being recognized with the Art in the Workplace Award. For many years, the plant hosted a well‑run and thoughtfully curated art show centered on the theme of water, showcasing creative work from across the community. The exhibition remained on display for a month, featured several cash awards, and often resulted in the purchase of selected pieces for permanent installation. This annual show consistently attracted compelling artwork that enriched the cultural landscape of Ames, demonstrating how public facilities can champion and celebrate local creativity.

Celebrate this meaningful contribution to the arts at Reiman Gardens (1407 University Blvd.) on Sun., May 17 at 1:30 p.m. Join us as we honor the people and places that help creativity flourish throughout Ames.
