Altrusa International of Ames is an organization of service-minded, big-hearted people. We are driven by the needs of our community, we are always looking at what we can do to help, and we are always looking for like-minded individuals who want to contribute their time (even if limited) and talents. We don't believe in wasting time, we know how valuable it is, so we ask you to give what you can an
d where you can. We love new ideas and passionate people! In fact, our two majors fundraisers both started from a few members saying "what if?":
Holiday Home Tour (30* years strong!) - Held in December
Garden Tour - Held in June
From these events we have been able to:
1. Help remodel and re-equip some of the needs of ACCESS
2. Pay for four and a half of the airline tickets for WWII, Vietnam, and Korea war veterans to see their memorials with the Story County Freedom Flight 2013
3. Provide scholarships for students studying abroad and adults seeking to educate themselves and provide a better life for their families
4. Support the renovations and activities provided to seniors by Heartland Senior Services
5. Collected food for MICA
6. Support dental health within our community
And many more projects too numerous to list! When you visit us, just ask about some of the many other causes we've volunteered for.
