Iowa State Dance Marathon

DM at ISU is the largest student-run philanthropic organization at Iowa State University benefiting Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital.

Iowa State Dance Marathon has been helping children with life threatening illnesses for 26 years, giving financial and emotional support to hundreds of families across Iowa. All of the money raised through our event is given directly to University of Iowa Children’s Hospital through Children’s Miracle Network. The first Dance Marathon at Iowa State was held in the spring of 1998. The event was spo

nsored by the Greek Interfraternity and Panhellenic Governing Councils. It was held in Beyer Hall and was only 10 hours long. The day was a great success and raised over $20,000. Much has changed since that first Dance Marathon. Today, as the largest student run philanthropy on campus, Dance Marathon holds a variety of events throughout the year and supports over 30 families from across Iowa. Dance Marathon has raised over five million dollars for the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital since 1998. Dance Marathon represents a life changing experience, complete with the opportunity to meet Iowa children and families who have directly benefited from University of Iowa Children’s Hospital and Children’s Miracle Network. Each year ISU Dance Marathon continues to grow and make a larger impact on our families across Iowa and our students who continue to make miracles and develop as leaders. Committee applications are open for the 2026-2027 Dance Marathon year!

Whether you’re looking for opportunities to build your graphic design portfolio or want a chance to lead your peers on the best day of the year (our big event), there are options for everyone!

Applications are open for seven committees: Creative, Events, Family Relations, Morale Captains, Partnerships, Stewardship, and Youth Outreach.

Applications close March 31st.

Join us for our favorite Fall semester event: Stacks for Stead! This Sunday, September 28, we will be on Central Campus with an inflatable obstacle course, facepainting, live music, family stories, and all you can eat pancakes!

Buy your tickets ahead of time to save money. Tickets purchased in advance are $10 for ISU students/faculty/staff and for youth ages 3-18 and $12 for adults in the community. Kids 2 and under are free. Prices increase to $12 and $15, respectively, on Sunday.

Dance Marathon is the largest student-run philanthropic organization at lowa State University. The leadership structure of our organization is crucial to our success. This year we have 3 advisors, 1 executive director, 4 executive managers, 15 executive positions, 6 committees, and hundreds of miracle makers!

The many members of our organization are what help us achieve our goals of giving back to the children and families at the University of lowa Stead Family Children's Hospital. Since our existence, we have raised over 5.5 million dollars for the hospital.
