What does feeding time look like at your house? Twice a day? Healthy, measured food in a clean bowl?

This is feeding time in a puppy mill. A week's worth of food is put in this red box and is expected to last. Puppy mill owners will do anything to limit how much time they have to actually spend with the dogs in their “care”.

This is what the public supports when they buy a puppy from a pet store or a click-and-ship website.

Pet stores don’t admit to using puppy mills- it’s bad for business!

So we took the time to research over 350 pet stores in the US (so far) and connect them to the puppy mills they use and make it public.

200% interest per puppy.

No. We aren’t exaggerating. Puppy selling stores use lending companies like EasyPay , WAGS lending and Lending USA which charge upwards of 200% interest per lease or loan in order to buy an already overpriced puppy.

It gets worse. In states where there are no legal protections, your puppy can actually be repossessed upon missed payment. And you are still on the hook for the loan or lease even if your puppy gets sick or dies.

Bernedoodles. Huskidoodles.
Danadoodles. Sheepadoodles.

Puppy mills and puppy stores are profiting off of cute names and squishy puppies, while banking on the fact that the public won’t research before they buy.

For the love of dog, don’t buy a puppy without seeing where and how the parents live and always google the breeder. You should always avoid buying a puppy in a store as well. Giving money to puppy-selling stores, only keeps puppy mills in business. Or better yet, look for your next best friend at your local shelter or rescue!

Everyone loves puppies! But we should care about the moms and dads too. If you are bringing a new puppy into your family, please make sure that you research the breeder you are buying from. And don’t forget that your local shelter and rescue is FULL of amazing puppies, teenagers and adults who are looking for a family just like yours!

The USDA will do anything to protect puppy mills. Not only did they take away the public’s right to see public inspection reports on these facilities before they buy, but they also allow puppy mills to change license numbers to hide from previous violations.

Who does this secrecy protect? The consumer? The dogs? No... It protects the puppy mills.

The USDA says that within breeding facilities, the cages dogs live in only need to be six inches wider and taller than their body. So long as the dog can stand up, turn around and lay down it is considered adequate space.

What do you think? Is that enough space for a dog to live happily it’s entire life?

It is according to the puppy mill industry that you are supporting when you buy a dog from a pet store or from a newspaper or website without meeting their parents!

Do your research, visit the facility and always reach out to us with any questions! Or better yet- Opt to Adopt

FEDERAL ACTION ALERT!

Tell Congress to crack down on puppy mills.

Use our easy action alert below to email your Federal Representatives and Senators and ask them to cosponsor HR 2840 / S 1385. These bills will require stronger standards of care including:

- Increase the enclosure sizes from the allowed 6in of extra space
- Require solid flooring instead of wire-bottom floors
- Require exercise for the dogs
- Require that they are fed twice per day
- Implement a socialization plan
- Require increased veterinary care
- Require protection from extreme temperatures.

This bill will also impose breeding limits per animal and ensure that breeders are making reasonable efforts to rehome retired dogs instead of discarding or killing them. Currently, none of this is required under the USDA.

If you have 2 minutes today, please fill out our quick form and polite ask your Federal Representatives and Senators to co-sponsor and support this important bill.
