*This will be a long & emotional post so buckle up buttercups*
Pride may have started as a riot, but Sunday was just pure love & fun.
If yall saw me crying half the day it was happy tears I promise!! I was in rehab nearly 3 years ago, and when my counselor told me there wasn’t anything here sobriety wise for the LGBTQIA+ community, I told him I would make it happen. We now have the Beyond Belief Secular AA meeting, but I wanted more than a meeting. I’m not saying it’s bad, we just need more safe & sober spaces!
For those of you who don’t know, Q***r Glow’s main goal is to have the nonprofit funding in order to help those in the LGBTQIA+ community access and get to SAFE rehabs, detox centers, and halfway houses. We would also create care packages because when you get to places like that, a lot of the times basically everything you own is what’s on your back or in a small bag.
In the meantime, we try to host safe & substance free events. You don’t have to be in recovery, we only ask that you come without substances for those who are.
I’m going to be so real with yall, I was on the verge of giving up. With me being sick I have been struggling with every day life, much less organizing events and jumping through the nonprofit hoops. We have also had very little attendance at the events we’ve already hosted.

Sunday was emotional for me because I saw the need for us. I heard stories of how folks got sober, how they wish they had something like Q***r Glow during that time, and then thanking us for starting this. At one point my AMAZING husband told me “We can’t give up. I will support you however you need me to, but we have to keep going.” and he is so right. We’re just getting started!! I also had so many people volunteer to help, and a few people offer to help monetarily. The community needs us.
So now here is my turn to thank YOU!! I needed Sunday more than any of you could ever understand. The support yall showed us was incredible. Because of yall, we are going to keep this going. Yellow City Pride Community, I love each and every one of you. Thank you for an incredible day! 🩷🌈
