"Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends." 🕊️🚒
On this Easter Sunday, the Last Alarm Fire Company reflects on the hope and renewal this season brings. We also take a moment to honor the selflessness of the firefighters across the 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle who serve our communities every day.
Our mission is rooted in a simple promise: to ensure that those who have given everything are honored with the dignity and respect they deserve.
Whether you are spending the day with family or are currently on shift at the station, we wish you a peaceful, safe, and very Happy Easter.

Once fully operational, this apparatus will serve the 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle, transporting the caskets of our fallen brothers and sisters. 01/01/2026

As we approach the new year, the Last Alarm Fire Company pauses to reflect on the immense sacrifices made by the men and women who serve the top 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle.
While 2024 was marked by the tragic losses of Chief Zeb Smith (Fritch) and Assistant Chief Scott Glass (Perryton), the year 2025 has been a season of continued vigilance. Though the Panhandle fire service was spared any line-of-duty deaths during this calendar year, the weight of those previous "Last Alarms" continues to be felt in every station and at every family table.
Looking Back with Gratitude
As we welcome 2026, we continue to honor the legacies of those who stood on the front lines when our region needed them most. We remember:
• Chief Zebulin "Zeb" Smith (Fritch VFD): A man with a "servant’s heart" who was a tireless advocate for his community and the safety of his fellow firefighters.
• Assistant Chief Scott Glass (Perryton Fire & EMS): A veteran leader whose steady hand guided his department through some of the most challenging calls in our history.
Their families and departments remain in our prayers. A firefighter's sacrifice doesn't end with the final call; it lives on in the traditions we uphold and the brother/sisterhood we provide to those they left behind.
A Message to Our Panhandle Heroes
To the firefighters currently on watch in the Panhandle: Thank you. Whether you are a volunteer or career, you represent the best of us. You are the ones who run toward the smoke while others run away, and you do so with the knowledge that your community depends on you.
Our New Year’s Promise
The Last Alarm Fire Company remains dedicated to its mission. We are here to provide dignified services and to ensure that the heritage of the fire service remains strong.
As the calendar turns, we pray for:
• Safety on every scene and every roadway.
• Strength for the families who wait for your return.
• Peace for those still mourning a fallen hero.
Happy New Year to the Texas Panhandle. We stand ready to honor you, and we pray we never have to.
