Booker's Place is a child advocacy center that provides free services to children who may have been abused or neglected. Booker Foundation through Booker's Place, not only provides services to suspected victims of child abuse and neglect, but also provides services to family members. The multi-disciplinary team associated with Booker's Place provides free training regarding child abuse to communit

This week, 15 professionals from across our district had the opportunity to attend the Crimes Against Children Conference! 💙

Bringing together professionals from different disciplines to learn, grow, and strengthen the way we work together is so important in the fight against child abuse. Melony, Executive Director of Booker’s Place, partnered with DHS to provide an important presentation on child abuse and the vital role teachers play in protecting children. Teachers are often among the first trusted adults to notice warning signs, changes in behavior, or possible concerns. The presentation emphasized the importance of recognizing those signs, responding appropriately, and making a report when abuse or neglect is suspected. Working together, educators, DHS, and Booker’s Place can help ensure children are heard, supported, and kept safe.

Every forensic interview is conducted with patience, empathy, and specialized training to ensure children feel safe, heard, and supported. Behind every interview is a commitment to protecting children, seeking the truth, and helping families begin the healing process.

Summer is filled with pool days, camps, sleepovers, and family adventures. While making memories, take a few moments to remind the children in your life that:

🌼 Their body belongs to them.
🌼 They can always say “no” if something makes them uncomfortable.
🌼 Safe adults will listen, believe them, and help.
🌼 They will never be in trouble for telling the truth.
