After Republicans in the House of Representatives voted to pass President Donald Trump's "One Big Beautiful Bill Act," rumors abounded that the bill sought to lower the age of dependents from 18 years old to 7.
We found that the bill does lower the age of a dependent from under 18 to under 7 — but only in the context of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), not across the board. The bill would significantly reduce the number of households with children who benefit from SNAP, according to experts.
