We are back at the Alpine Civic Center for Day 2, and the schedule is packed! From rare gemstones to local geology and evening celebrations, here is your guide to the best Saturday in West Texas.

At the Civic Center (Free Admission 9am–5pm):

At the Alpine Public Library:
🎙️ Guest Speaker (2:00 PM): Join Dr. Jesse Kelsch for a deep dive into the fascinating geology of our region. If you’ve ever wanted to know the story behind the rocks in your hand, don’t miss this! FREE!!

🌎 Earth Day & Dark Sky Party! Head over to the backside of the Alpine Civic Center on 12th Street (1pm - 4pm) to celebrate our planet and our famous West Texas stars. It’s the perfect way to keep the party going! FREE!

The vendors have officially arrived in Alpine, and trucks and trailers are loaded with beautiful rocks! We are kicking off the 35th Alpine Gem & Mineral Show with a massive selection of rocks, crystals, and gems from all over the world. Whether you’re a seasoned collector or just looking for something sparkly, this is the weekend to be at the Alpine Civic Center.

Beyond the main show floor, here are some can't-miss highlights for your weekend calendar:

• Friday Night After-Party (5:00 PM – 7:00 PM): Join us at the 5th St Gallery in downtown Alpine for a special evening event. It’s a great chance to mingle with fellow rockhounds and check out the incredible work of local makers and artists.

• Saturday Guest Speaker: Head across the street to the Alpine Public Library on Saturday at 2pm for an insightful talk by Dr. Kelsch: Fault Rocks of the Big Bend Region…. Even More Reasons to Love Calcite.

• Book Signing & Giveaway: Saturday at 12:30 PM! Meet author Adrienne McElwain as she presents her book, Addy’s Adventure: Rock Collecting. The first 20 kids receive a FREE starter mineral kit and a signed copy of the book!

• Earth Day & Dark Sky Celebration (Saturday 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM): We’re teaming up for a dual celebration! Swing by the Civic Center for educational exhibits, outreach partners, and a focus on our beautiful West Texas skies.

• Hands-On Workshops: Ready to get your hands dirty? Don’t miss our Ring Making station to create your own jewelry or our "Adopt a Rock" area for a fun, unique souvenir. Free, for all ages! See times below.

Book Signing & Giveaway: Saturday at 12:30 PM!

Don’t miss out! Meet author Adrienne McElwain as she presents her book, Addy’s Adventure: Rock Collecting. It’s an awesome opportunity for kids to learn about the hobby of rockhounding and start a collection of their own.

Kids Activity: Find Your New Best Friend! 🪨✨

Are you ready to give a little piece of the earth a forever home? We are excited to host the "Adopt-a-Rock" station during the show! This is the perfect activity for junior rockhounds (and the young at heart).

All ages welcome, Free Admission, Free Activity!

Every rock has a story. Pick your favorite, name it, decorate it at the art bar, and take home a new companion to start your collection!

Come find your new pet rock near the back door of the Alpine Civic Center in the white tent. While supplies last!
