For many of our unhoused neighbors, hard work doesn’t always equal stability. Some are working while living in their cars, staying in temporary housing, or simply trying to make it from one day to the next.

Today, as we honor the contributions of workers everywhere, we’re especially grateful for the work that doesn’t always get noticed—the neighbor showing up for a shift while facing challenges most of us can’t see, the volunteer spending a Saturday morning serving others, the donor adding a few extra necessities to their cart, and the countless people who quietly see a need and choose to help.

Some work earns a paycheck. Some work is given freely.
All of it has the power to make a difference.
