The third Mindfulness Pebbles session will be held on Thursday, September 3rd at 5:30 pm and will focus on mindfulness principles regarding the body. Participants will work on developing awareness of body sensations and connections through methods such as mindful eating and movement.

The following session will be held on Thursday, October 1st and will focus on principles surrounding thoughts and thought patterns. Participants will be guided through intentional observations of their thoughts and taught techniques such as reframing and decentering.

These classes are hosted by the Friends of the Alma Public Library and are free to attend without registration!

The Friends of the Alma Public Library Used Book Sale isn't just about finding your next great read — it's about keeping our library a true community hub. During the month of September, every gift is DOUBLED — up to our $2,500 matching grant from United Way of Greater Central Michigan — so the sooner we raise funds, the sooner we max out the match! The funds we raise go directly toward programs and enhancements that fall outside the library's regular budget, and the Book Sale is our single biggest fundraiser of the year.

Our annual Friends of the Alma Public Library Used Book Sale is coming back this September!

Thousands of gently used books are ready to be taken home and added to your shelves! Mysteries, romances, fantasies— your new favorite fiction titles could be waiting for you at the library!
Not a fan of fiction? Don’t worry! We’ve got you covered with an extensive collection of nonfiction titles including cookbooks, history, religion, science, and more!
Plus, a dedicated room just for children's literature to keep your littles learning at an affordable price!
Need even more?! Check out our movie, game, & puzzle tables for something to create a fun filled night with the family!

Our sale operates the full week of Monday, September 14th through Saturday, September 19th during regular library hours.

We need your help to make this event a success! All profits from the sale support library programs and improvements. The library is only able to accept cash or check for this event.

The Alma Public Library is excited to announce that our highly anticipated Riverside Cemetery Tour will be returning this September 27th!

🎟️Tickets for this event will go on sale Tuesday, September 8th at 9:30am!

Join local actors as they tell the stories of Alma’s most infamous deaths in this hour-long guided walking tour of Riverside Cemetery.
🪦Remember the lives of Alma’s beloved doctors and fearless soldiers.
🪦Investigate the town’s forgotten criminal underbelly.
🪦Attend the long-awaited wedding of two lovers whose devotion survived a separation of 50 years and 100 miles!

Thanks to the generosity of Masonic Pathways and PACE Central Michigan buses will be available at the library to transport our tour groups to and from the cemetery. Fresh cider and donuts will be available in our Smith room before and after the tour.

Tickets can be purchased, in person, at the front desk beginning September 8th for $10 each! The library is only able to accept cash or check for this event.

Costumes for this event were graciously supplied by the Gratiot County Players.

Hey friends! Boy, summer sure has flown by, hasn't it? We're going to be having our monthly meeting next week in the Smith Room at the Alma Public Library next week on Thursday, August 27th at 4:30 pm. We hope to see you there!

The Library of Things has taken center stage near the front desk at the Alma Public Library! Check out the party cake pans or karaoke machine to make your cookouts, graduation parties, and bonfires more fun! Engage in a little treasure hunting on your beach day with the metal detector, take the ghost hunting kit out after dark, or bring home some tools to work on that summer to-do list. There's something for everyone in this neat collection, make sure to check it out!

Visit the library Thursday, August 6th at 6pm to learn about the murder that changed Alma forever.

In September of 1917 Beatrice Epler, a 17 year old Alma native, was found dead just a few yards from her home. What later ensued was a dark mystery that threw the town into disarray and brought its seedy underbelly to light.

Local author and researcher Allie Seibert- Author walks you through all of the evidence in this historical true crime presentation.
