Hi Salisbury HS Class of 1997!
As the Class of 2023 looks forward to an exciting Spirit Week at Salisbury High School, I hope you are looking forward to this Friday evening filled with high school football and old high school acquaintances! I am looking forward to seeing many of you, some former teachers and also pretty excited to show my son where I graduated High School. This past Friday, I took him to a Football game at the High School where I work and he was captivated by the Friday Night lights, the game itself and the band. I love the magic and curiosity of a 7 year old.
A few details for anyone who plans on joining us:
1. The game is free! Anyone is welcome to attend the game on Friday evening at no cost.
2. The concession stand will be open. It is cash only.
3. We can not host a tent per District request. Due to homecoming events and the parade, space will be limited.
4. Hungry? Grab a bite at the concession, at a local restaurant or pick up some snacks/dinner before the game to enjoy the parade!
5. Homecoming parade...who knew?! There will be a parade that will start at Salisbury Elementary (former Harry S. Truman) that will end at the High School. Many students/families will watch from streets along the route. I will be getting there a little early to watch the parade on Montgomery Street in front of the High. If you're looking for a familiar (or not so familiar lol) face, please feel free to text me at the number below.
6. Parking could be tricky because of the game and the fact that they shut some roads down due to the parade. If you have zero interest in the parade consider coming much closer to game time at 7:00pm.
6. Consider wearing your blue and white or an old Salisbury shirt if you have one! Oddly, I recently found my Field Hockey rugby shirt...it's full of holes...not sure that I care. I'll wash it, I promise.
7. Look for some of your classmates around the 50th yard line towards the middle/top once inside the game. You will be sure to find a familiar face (albeit 25 years older) around that location!
8. We didn't plan anything after the game but if you're around and feel like extending your evening with a few of your former falcons, go for it!
Lastly, if you are interested in "hosting" any social events in the future for your "regional area" - Lehigh Valley, Philadelphia, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Jersey, others, please let me know! This would essentially entail reaching out to classmates via social media/email for informal activities such as local happy hours or random local events. No commitment for this...just a future courtesy in case people want to get together.
Hope to see you on Friday! Gametime is 7pm on Friday, October 14th!
