I remember when I was little, my uncle would take me to his mom's house. She had a cook stove that used wood for heat. Her kitchen always smelled from the last meal that was served and she usually had a pan of biscuits in the warmer. If she didn't she always made me a peanut butter and karo syrup sandwich. She usually had her apron on, and she was usually in the kitchen when I got there.
I'm afraid, these days are slipping away.
Kitchens are grand now days, but many miss that sense of home. I love it when I can go to someone's house and sit around the table and talk. There's just something special about those memories.
I love being in my kitchen cooking for my family. My kitchen doesn't always look like a show place, but we live here, and I'd rather have flour on my counter and happy memories with my family than to live in the grandest place of all.

Been on a broccoli and rice and cheese casserole kick lately.
When I was harvesting broccoli out of the garden I was fixing it ALOT!!! So when I was fixing it tonight, I thought I would share the recipe. THE PIC IS NOT MINE BUT I WILL POST A PIC WHEN IT COMES OUT OF THE OVEN.

Bag of frozen broccoli
Shred Cheese
Minute rice
Cream of chicken soup 1 can ( or you can make homemade chicken gravy)
Onion powder
Salt Pepper
Butter and Ritz crackers

Steam or boil your broccoli. Prepare rice according to the directions and for how many you will be serving. Then chop up your broccoli and add it to your rice and your onion powder and add your can of soup, or if you use gravy just add enough to make it creamy. Salt and pepper to your taste. I don't measure a lot of things folks, I'm sorry. Then add about 1/2 your cheese and stir. Then add the ingredients to your baking dish. Then top with the rest of your cheese.
Melt 2 sticks of butter in the microwave and crush 2 packs of ritz crackers into it and stir them up. Sprinkle on top of the casserole. Bake 375 until the crackers are slightly browned and the sides bubble.

A lot of my recipes are like this I don't measure much.
I absolutely love this casserole.
Like I said I will upload a pic as soon as mine comes out of the oven.
