We are tentatively hopeful that the deeds of the March 2023 land transaction will be voided by mutual agreement. At tonight’s meeting, the public left with a general understanding that all parties are interested in voiding the deeds, returning properties to their pre-March 2023 boundaries, and letting the litigation end so that we all might move forward and build on good conversations and goodwill that many people expressed for one another. There were two informational meetings with a lot of spirited discussion but just as much goodwill for one another.

A few weeks back plaintiffs offered a proposal to void the deeds. It would make clear town officials made no wrongdoing and are held harmless. Everyone just moves on with the deeds voided. This would be a great agreement. We are hopeful that all parties are on the verge of an agreement and we would like to celebrate a positive outcome with the Selectboard and all parties in question. How about a big party in the public field this summer?

Here it is! If you weren't able to join tonight's meeting to discuss the unlawful land grab and efforts to stop the Allagash selectmen from spending any more unapproved taxpayer money defending wrongdoing they have admitted to in court documents (see below) you can check it out here. Tonight had a great turnout with 35-40 people participating through 30 individual Zoom accounts (one household had 5 neighbors all listening in together!). It is exciting to finally be having these discussions in public settings with all participants respectfully interacting. And these important details will continue to be discussed and made available going forward - next up is tomorrow's 5pm meeting in the Allagash Fire Department Conference Room!

Tonight we Allagash residents and taxpayers can all feel one step closer to having the unlawful deeds reversed and the land returned to the people. We just had a terrific public meeting on Zoom with 35-40 participants. For the first time in nearly two years the circumstances of the land grab that deprived residents of our historic school field and financially damaged the taxpayers' town asset were discussed in a public forum with facts, court statements, and relevant legal considerations on the table for all to see. People had an opportunity to politely and respectfully ask questions professionally answered by plaintiff attorney Kristin Collins. Please stay tuned for a video of the meeting that will be made available for viewing. The word is getting out, the facts are being discussed, and the truth is on the side of the people of Allagash.

Reminder! Zoom meeting at 7pm tonight for the public to be informed of the latest in taxpayer-led efforts to return the lost portion of Allagash’s field to the people and stop the needless waste of unauthorized taxpayer funds. Please remember that this is in informational meeting where events and documents will be discussed respectfully so people can understand the details and all the facts. The Allagash Taxpayers Association is an informal group for the plaintiffs who have undertaken these efforts, the 38 petition-signing citizens who have asked for the deeds to be invalidated and the town to stop spending their money, and other townspeople who want to restore respect and accountability in the conduct of town matters in Allagash. We will look out for one another, call out bullying behavior that has no place in this discourse, and encourage all parties to stick straight to the facts respectfully in the meantime. See you at 7 via the following link:

We are pleased to announce the formation of the Allagash Taxpayers Association. We are Allagash residents, taxpayers, and friends who have come together to advocate for transparency, accountability, respect, and responsible use of taxpayer money by our municipal government and in our town. We have come together to support one another, demand every voice be heard in town matters, and keep one another informed of truth in those matters.

The unlawful land transaction involving the public field behind the Allagash Municipal Building has spurred us on and we are committed to bringing all facts out into the light so the public can understand the truth of why our shared space was traded away in a land grab predicated on a fabricated threat, a land grab that the town continues to defend in court without taxpayer approval for its costly legal fees.

Please join us at a pair of informational meetings to learn more about these events, see relevant documents, and hear from a plaintiff attorney. The first meeting will be held tomorrow night, Thursday, January 16 at 7pm via Zoom and is publicly accessible at the following link:
https://preti.zoom.us/j/88135425943?pwd=1cx7C3saGWVU3Yq7hCZqsCD6Z8lZuX.1

The second meeting will be held in-person on Friday, January 17 at 5pm in the Allagash Fire Department's Conference Room. All are welcome. We believe that public discussion can and will result in a favorable outcome for all parties and our community can begin to heal, moving forward together. We look forward to seeing you there.
