Jim Wells County Rotary Club would like to extend our sincere appreciation to our guest speaker, Mr. Pete Vasquez, Managing Editor of the Alice Echo News Journal, for an informative and engaging presentation at today’s meeting.

Our Rotarians and guests were fascinated to learn about the many ways the Alice Echo News Journal keeps our community informed through print, digital media, and social media platforms. We especially enjoyed hearing about the rich history of our local newspaper. Established in 1894, the Alice Echo News Journal has served our community for well over a century, evolving from a weekly newspaper hand delivered to homes to a modern news source delivered through the postal service, its website, and various social media channels.

It was inspiring to learn how local journalism has adapted through the years while continuing its mission of keeping our community connected and informed.

President Elect Lisa Castaneda presented a Thank you certificate to Mr. Vasquez, for sharing his knowledge, passion for journalism, and the remarkable history of one of South Texas longest standing community institutions.

Thank you Mrs. Kelly Austin (Jim Wells County Rotary President) with VasCare for your informative presentation this past Thursday. Learning about venous disease and how it can impact comfort, mobility, confidence, and quality of life. Whether dealing with chronic venous insufficiency, varicose veins, venous ulcers, or spider veins was very interesting. Knowing VasCare can provide the care we need if we face this serious disease is essential. It was a great Presentation!

Jim Wells County Rotary Club is pleased to announce that this week’s guest speaker will be fellow Rotarian Kelly Austin with VasCare.

Kelly will share information about VasCare, a specialized medical and outpatient vascular center serving our region, with locations in Corpus Christi and Beaumont, Texas. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the services VasCare provides and its commitment to improving vascular health in the communities it serves.

We had an outstanding Jim Wells County Rotary Club meeting, bringing together a wonderful crowd of Rotarians and community members dedicated to making a difference in our region. Thank you for coming!

We were privileged to hear an informative and inspiring presentation from Mr. Vincent Marquez, who shared exciting updates on the Alice Multi-Use Complex/Natatorium Center and a significant housing development project that will help shape the future of our community.

We were also honored to welcome City of Alice Manager Michael Esparza, who spoke about a promising partnership pending Council approval between the City of Alice, NRC-Alice Natatorium & Water park, and Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Camp-Resorts. Steven, representing Jellystone Park, highlighted the exceptional amenities and family-friendly experiences that will provide new opportunities for recreation, tourism, and economic growth for Alice and the surrounding communities.

At Jim Wells County Rotary Club, we are passionate about bringing people together to learn, collaborate, and celebrate initiatives that move our community forward. Meetings like these showcase the power of partnerships, innovation, and a shared vision for a stronger future.
