First Friday: 250th All Ages Book Club Kick-Off
Join us at Yardstick this First Friday, June 5, 2026, 5-8pm for the kick-off of the 250th Anniversary All-Ages Book Club, a collaboration between Yardstick and the . We will be reading and discussing the middle grade book, LOYALTY by Avi, which explores the American Revolution from a fresh perspective: the story of a young Loyalist turned British spy navigating patriotism and personal responsibility during the lead-up to the War of Independence. Lots to talk about as part of this celebration of our democracy! (The “book club” and Semiquincentennial celebration will take place on: Friday, June 26, 2026 from 5:30-7pm at Yardstick Books.) Copies of LOYALTY are available at Yardstick Books for $5 and copies are checkout-able at the library.

On First Friday, we will offer refreshments and activities, and will hand out a list of questions and ideas to think about while reading LOYALTY. We hope to see folks of all ages participate—please spread the word!
