Ryan returns to TRALA after serving as Director of Government and Legislative Affairs at the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. He brings more than a decade of government affairs experience in the transportation, commercial motor vehicle, and financial services industries, including his previous role as TRALA’s Director of Government Relations.

We’re excited to have Ryan back at TRALA and look forward to having him once again working on the federal and state issues important to our members.

TRALA applauds Senator Ashley Moody for introducing the Staged Accident Fraud Prevention Act, legislation that would make intentionally staging an accident involving a commercial motor vehicle a federal crime.

Staged crashes are not victimless crimes—they endanger lives, disrupt supply chains, fuel lawsuit abuse, and drive up insurance costs for trucking companies, truck renting and leasing businesses, and consumers alike.

TRALA supports the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee's efforts to support the nation's industry and infrastructure with the . TRALA also thanks committee members for their support during bill markup for an amendment to protect the truck renting and leasing industry: “TRALA wants to thank Congressman Bresnahan for his leadership and support for the amendment during markup last week that would ban lawsuits against leasing and renting companies that do not add optional equipment that is not required by state or federal law,” said Jake Jacoby, President and CEO of TRALA. “Allowing lessors to compete in the marketplace without fear from frivolous charges that do not advance safety is critical to ensuring our members continue to lease and rent the trucks that literally move America. TRALA shares Congressman Bresnahan’s support of small businesses, as they represent more than 95% of our members’ customers. Having a highway reauthorization bill with adequate funding for infrastructure as well as guardrails against inflationary issues will allow our economy to expand and businesses of all sizes to grow and prosper.”
