🏳️‍⚧️Equality Arlington signed a joint letter with AGIA, Alexandrians Committed to Equality - ACE, Defenders of Public Education, Equality Loudoun, FCPS Pride, Falls Church City Schools Pride Alliance, and Loudoun4All urging Virginia Attorney General-Elect Jay Jones to protect transgender students in Northern Virginia.

HUGE thanks to our incredible community!

Last night, an amazing 20 folks showed up to support our students at the ACPS Closed School Board meeting, despite only having about 3.5 hours' notice! Your dedication and swift response are truly inspiring, and your presence was warmly greeted.

Your presence sent a clear and powerful message that our community stands steadfast in its commitment to ACPS's current nondiscrimination policies and practices. These policies are crucial because they do not harm any student; in fact, they protect ALL students' privacy, reduce bullying, and support a school climate where everyone has the chance to thrive.

Our next significant date to watch is the August 15th extension deadline provided by the Department of Education. We will take a few moments to breathe and assess the situation as it develops.

The Alexandria Coalition for Equality (ACE) is gathering signatures this week to urge the ACPS School Board and senior staff to stand firm in their commitment to nondiscrimination.

Please add your name to this letter demanding that ACPS continue their inclusive policies that protect nonbinary and transgender students, even when it's hard. Add your voice and stand with our transgender students.
