Marlee's Misfits

Cherishing impurrfections Marlee’s Misfits began in summer 2024 to help us better serve our adoptable cats.

Our focus is on care for seniors, cats with special needs, and medical emergencies. We provide housing and care for cats from high-risk shelters, owner surrenders, and overcrowded cat rescues. We provide behavioral and medical support for cats deemed “less adoptable” due to age, illness, or injury. Funds raised are used to provide supplies and vet care for rescue cats, most of whom are housed at M

ount Purrnon Cat Café. Other funds are used to help cats at other rescues, as well as provide education and outreach.

Beautiful Mochi keeps getting overlooked! Not because she isn’t friendly; she is always out being social. She isn’t needy. She’s just low key and doesn’t stand out in the cat room. For six months, she has sat quietly on the couch.

If go to her, she will gladly accept pets and snacks. At 8 years young, she has so much love to give and she has been through so much. Most of the cats she lived with were found deceased and the few that survived have been sitting and waiting for years to be adopted from a rural shelter!

She’s fine with other cats and older children, and probably calm dogs too. She’s also fine being your solo bff. She’s friendly but not demanding. Aka she’s purrfect.

Sapphire is recovering well from her tumor removal. It did come back as soft tissue sarcoma BUT due to the location, clean surgery margins, and early stage, she should be in the clear!

At this point we just monitor for any regrowth on her paw. Luckily in the unlikely event it comes back, it is slow growing and can be removed before it becomes an issue.

She has one more week and she will be available for adoption!

He looks sweet and innocent…

Jackson is a year old and full of energy. He’s always the last one to nap and first one to wake up to play. He needs a very active home with kids and/or another very playful cat or dog. He’s also cuddly so perfect for a family!

The past few weeks, we have been sent numerous senior cats in need. We are very small and can only fit so many at the cafe. Luckily, we have had a few amazing people step in to foster some of these old babies until we could take them.

Francis here is 15. He has some minor kidney disease but he’s otherwise healthy. He is the definition of a creaky old man but he is the sweetest thing you’ll ever meet. He asks for pets and food and then returns to a cozy bed for naptime.

If you have room, please consider giving an older cat a final cozy home.

We started Marlee’s Misfits, in part, so we could rescue the oldest cats. We want to make sure even if we are the last home for them, every senior we take is shown so much love and given a comfortable and peaceful retirement. When we heard about the 21 year old cats in need, we knew we needed to help.

Baby and Mr. Grey arrived a couple of weeks ago and were so happy to be spoiled and loved on after living in a shed for the past year or so. They each got their own fountain, a soft heated bed, and lots of pets and cuddles. They ran around and played like cats 1/4 of their age, but we knew they had a lot of medical needs, many of which had been untreated for years.

This past weekend, Baby suddenly declined and crossed the rainbow bridge on her terms. She was loved and cuddled until the very end.

Mr. Grey is cuddled next to me and seems to be doing well for a super old man. He is still up for adoption for however much time he has. We still believe he would be happiest with a senior cat buddy.

When we take seniors, we don’t know how much time they have, but it is worth seeing the peace and love in their faces when they know they are safe.

Please consider adopting a senior. You’ll never regret the love they show. And please, get your senior cats bloodwork. It’s better to treat things early than learn they have been silently struggling.

Baby was a true fighter with the biggest heart. Our time was short but we will love you forever!

Ciabatta is the sweetest man who is still learning to cat. We think he is probably 4-6 years old and he loves people. He has a head tilt from previous ear infections and some scarring from who knows what but he is healthy and happy and looking for love!

Tigger is the whole package and he keeps getting overlooked! He’s only 3 years old, loves to play, likes people and other cats, and he is probably ok with dogs too. Come meet this handsome ginger at !

Guys. These cats are 21 yrs old. EACH. After a less than stellar past year living in a SHED, these guys deserve the BEST end of life home.

We plan to take two (there are four total being cared for ). Two of them are hyperthyroid but that’s not a big deal. We will pay for meds and it’s usually two pills a day.

Can you adopt or foster two super (sweet) seniors for the months or years they have left?! There’s nothing like a senior cat’s love ❤️

Biscuit is one of our youngsters who needs an active home where she can run and play. Shes good with kids, other playful cats, and dogs. She came all the way from NC and she is the last of her siblings to find a home. She’s so great and barely a year old.
