The Faith in Housing bill will make it easier for faith communities to use their excess land for affordable housing. Please consider sending a letter to Governor Spanberger -- link in post below.

🚨We need your help getting Faith in Housing signed — Email the Governor and state leaders TODAY!

We’re at a critical moment. The Faith in Housing bill is on Governor of Virginia Abigail Spanberger’s desk, with a deadline to sign by April 13th. But even though 70% of Virginians are in favor of this legislation, the bill’s opponents are using misconceptions to draw support away from this key opportunity to meaningfully address Virginia’s housing shortage — and they’re being heard.

📢So we need to be louder.

✍️Use the link below to email the Governor and your state leaders now! Encourage them to vote “Yes” on the Commonwealth Housing Coalition’s amendments.

"Strategy for Advocates"

Join Ventures in Community (VIC) for their next VIC general meeting on Wednesday, February 4 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The meeting is at Washington Farm United Methodist Church at 3921 Old Mill Road, Alexandria VA 22309.

The speaker will be Mary Paden, Fairfax NAACP Housing Chair, on the subject of "Strategy for Advocates."

When social justice volunteers ask, "What can I do" - they are hoping leaders will give them a task that will actually help make change. Decades ago, the Midwest Academy, a prominent 50-year-old training institute for community organizers, developed a process to identify decisionmakers and select tactics and messages to influence them. It works. Wednesday's meeting will take an interactive walk through their process.

All are welcome to participate in this session. A light lunch will be provided.

Please forward this invitation to those in your networks!
