meet MEDELEVENSON 💙

At just 15 months old, Madelevenson was admitted to our inpatient program showing signs of moderate malnutrition and in need of nutritional intervention. He weighed only 18 lbs. 7 oz. upon admission and spent 29 days in our care.

During his stay, he consumed 39 packets of Mamba and gained an incredible 3.94 pounds. The transformation a child can experience in less than one month with the right care, nourishment, and support is remarkable.

His story is a powerful reminder that malnutrition doesn't have to become severe before intervention matters. Early treatment changes outcomes, protects long-term health, and gives children the opportunity to thrive.

Madelevenson graduated from our inpatient center last week, but will now enter our follow-up program for continued support & care. Your support of MIDDLE GROUND ensures that no child is turned away and that every child receives the care needed to flourish.

Last month, the Haitian government issued an increase in minimum wage after textile workers protested wages that amounted to less than $8 per day. The need for fairer wages is real and necessary, but the immediate enforcement of this mandate has also caused operating costs across the country to rise rapidly, including the cost of security services.

As a result, our monthly security expense increased by $500 overnight — a cost we simply did not budget for at the beginning of the year.

In a country where instability continues to grow, reducing security is not an option.

Today, we are asking you to help shoulder this burden by joining THE COALITION.

It means linking arms with like-minded individuals, who are fighting with us, as we strive to save children from malnutrition. Monthly giving helps create stability in an unstable environment. meet KETURA 💕

a sweet babe that was admitted for Marasmus malnutrition last year

she was 4-months-old when admitted, weighing a mere 6 pounds. she spent 32 days inpatient and gained just over 2 pounds in that time.

she was seen in the follow-up program a handful of times, but was re-admitted in January after losing her father to gang violence, which resulted in a rapid decline in health for both babe & mom.

Ketura spent another 85 days inpatient from January - April; in that time she gained so much strength, plus another SIX pounds!! Her discharge weight was 15 lbs. 8 oz!

Ketura's recovery is a great example as to why our follow-up program is essential, allowing us to keep a close eye on those in the most vulnerable situations. Our staff report so many families we serve having lost loved ones to gang violence. Many families remain displaced, living in constant fear, and enduring much trauma.

Middle Ground remains a beacon of hope & refuge for so many reasons than just malnutrition care. THANK YOU for standing on MIDDLE GROUND with us as we strive to continue being a light in the darkness.

We are grateful for recent donations that allowed us to update our electrical system + add more solar panels to our rooftop!

As we strive to provide critical care to malnourished children, having reliable electricity to operate our medical equipment is a non-negotiable. In recent months, our batteries were not keeping up with the demands and we were running our diesel generator to keep the lights on. With the update of our system this past month, we have not had to turn on the generator once!!

This update will make our center more sustainable in so many ways + allow us to care for even more children.

MEET EVENS 💛

He was one of ELEVEN children who graduated from our inpatient center in April. Admitted at 2.5 years old, he weighed just 19 pounds and was diagnosed with marasmus malnutrition.

After 29 days inpatient, he had gained well over 6 pounds, making a full recovery. He will now enter our follow-up program for continued support.

Nadia sees the work being done at MG as a painkiller, bringing relief to those living in deep poverty without the means to survive. During her time at MG, she has witnessed many miracles and powerful moments that stand as a testimony to the value of MG's work.
