Here is a list of supporter of the BISD according to the Old Town Business Association, Some like Bazaak, Lori's Table and Indus Imports are listed but are not supporters. Subtracting those, there are 82 other businesses in support, but there are probably 200 retail businesses on King St, and more on the side Streets. Please go in and ask them why they support increasing taxes. Tell them to support small businesses instead:

Have you noticed the sign wars in shop windows in Old Town? If there is a pink sign, it means that business is for increasing taxes approx %10 (property tax just increased %5), to raise a million $ to be put in the hands of a private unaccountable board of business owners to spend. Are they really going to spend it to make Old Town a place for everyone, or are they just going to spend it to promote their own business? There is no way to know for sure, because they spent 6 months planning in secret (ok "quietly"), have not released by laws, a marketing plan, or a list of benefits to those who will be paying the tax. Sign and Share the petition to let City Council know that you oppose the proposed BISD's additional 10% real estate tax. This proposal is being pushed by a small group of private business owners, but will have negative consequences for many of small businesses and residents in Old Town.
