5PM Feels Like a Breaking Point?

If things feel fine at 3…
wobbly at 4…
and completely unraveling by 5…

You’re not crazy.

It’s not “witching hour.”
It’s nervous system overload.

By 5pm:

-Your toddler is maxed out
-You’re decision-fatigued
-Blood sugar is dipping
-Everyone’s been “on” all day

Of course it explodes.

You don’t need better scripts.
You need a reset.

In this week’s blog I share:
• Why 5pm hits so hard
• What’s happening in your body
• A 3-minute reset before dinner
• How to shift from snapping → connecting

Read it here:

Try the reset tonight. Then tell me what changes.

Most people know the feeling well: as the clock nears 5PM, a wave of tension, fatigue, and frustration builds. The day’s demands seem to pile up all at once, and suddenly, you feel like you’re about to snap. This moment often feels like a breaking point, especially for parents juggling work, chi...

You can help your toddler move from meltdowns to moments of calm without pressure. One mom started a two-minute “color breath” ritual each morning: they chose a soft crayon, breathed in while tracing a slow line, and breathed out while naming a color. After two weeks, tantrums at breakfast dropped from daily to twice a week. The toddler waited more patiently for food and smiled more during transitions. The mom said she felt steadier and more confident — like she finally had a small, reliable tool to reach her child.

Try this at home: pick one simple sensory cue, practice it for two minutes a day, and notice one small change each week. Consistency builds calm. Want more playful routines that actually work? Visit https://wix.to/ywLhcrf

March Calm & Colorful Emotional Regulation Series is Open 💛

After our last session, I’m still smiling.

One parent shared that the one word they were walking away with was “encouraged.”

Not fixed.
Not perfect.
Encouraged.

And honestly, that’s the goal.

Some of the biggest takeaways that landed weren’t even on my written plan, things like practicing dragon breath together and rethinking time-in vs time-out. They came up naturally, through real conversation, and fit seamlessly into the work we’re doing around co-regulation, boundaries, and emotional safety.

That’s how this space works.
Structured enough to feel held.
Flexible enough to meet you in real life.

If you’re parenting a toddler and you’re tired of:
• feeling like you’re choosing between too soft or too harsh
• dreading big emotions
• wanting tools that actually work in the moment

This series is for you.

March series spots are open now.
Small group. Real support. No pressure to “get it right.”

Save This, Especially If You’re Parenting Kids with Big Feelings

Grounded phrases for kids who are dysregulated
(short, steady, respectful, and said from a calm adult body)

🔵 Resetting How It’s Said

“Let’s try those words again.”
“Pause, rewind, try once more.”
“I can hear you better when your voice is softer.”
“Was that a request or a demand?”
“Let’s switch that to asking.”
“Show me the kind version.”
“Use calm words.”
“There’s another way to say that.”
“I’m here to help, try again.”
“Let’s practice together.”

🟡 Calming the Body First

“Your body looks overwhelmed.”
“Let’s help your body settle.”
“You’re safe with me.”
“Breathe with me.”
“I’m not going anywhere.”
“This moment is okay.”
“Big feelings can pass.”
“We’ll handle this together.”
“Slow it down.”
“Let’s take a pause.”

🟢 Limits That Feel Safe

“I can’t allow hurting.”
“I won’t let things get broken.”
“That tone isn’t okay.”
“That option isn’t open right now.”
“I hear what you want, and it’s still no.”
“It’s okay to be upset, not unkind.”
“I’m here when you’re calmer.”
“This boundary keeps us safe.”
“My job is safety.”
“We can revisit later.”

🟣 Repair & Re-Connection

“That was tough. Want to try again?”
“We can fix this moment.”
“Mistakes are part of learning.”
“I still care about you.”
“You’re learning, not in trouble.”
“Let’s repair it.”
“I see you trying.”
“Thanks for making it right.”
“We’re okay now.”
“I love you through all of it.”

🔴 Choice & Agency

“You get to pick between these two.”
“Do you want support or space?”
“What do you need right now?”
“Your choice matters.”
“I’ll wait.”
“That helped keep things safe.”
“Try again or ask for help.”
“You control your next step.”
“What’s your idea?”
“I’m with you.”

Feeling that storm brewing before the tantrum hits?

Pause. Don’t lecture. Don’t fix. Move.

Here’s a simple 3-step movement reset you can do right now with your toddler:
1. Ground together: Stand strong. Big arm circles. Three slow breaths.
2. Shake it out: Wiggle hands, shoulders, hips. Be silly. Ten seconds is plenty.
3. Close + connect: Slow hug or hand on heart. Name it: “I see your big feeling.”

Keep it playful. Keep it human.
No pressure to “do it right”, just practice.

These tiny moments build shared calm and emotional language over time.
Try it today and notice what shifts.

Something happened today that brought tears to my eyes…

I was telling Kelton about the 22 Days of Calm Challenge and how many’ss are already seeing real shifts just a few days in.

One mama messaged me and said:

“So we just danced to our song when he was feeling upset and I think it helped. He hurried to my arms when he heard it start.”

That right there connection, comfort, calm. That’s the heart of this challenge.

I told Kelton how amazed I am that it’s already working, and he just looked at me and said, “Of course it works.”

Then he shared his own moment from earlier in the day.
He was outside swinging Korbin while I was inside getting ready. He called me sounding a little irritated and asked, “How much longer?” I calmly said, “Five more minutes… i invite you to try blowing out the candle?” (That’s one of our breathing tools we use with Korbin.)

Later, he told me he actually did it.
He took a minute and practiced deep breathing while swinging Korbin… and he felt the shift. He calmed down. He regulated.
And without even realizing it, he was modeling emotional regulation for our son.

That moment got me.
Because this challenge isn’t just helping other families.
It’s transforming mine, too.

Thank you for trusting your little one's world-changing journey with us! 🌱

Resilience isn't born overnight—it's built through tiny victories and beautiful failures. When you let your toddler try (and sometimes struggle) with that zipper or puzzle piece, you're giving them a superpower that lasts forever. ✨

Remember, the words "not yet" are more powerful than "can't." Your family's growth mindset shapes how you tackle everything from airport meltdowns to everyday challenges.
