Hope In Her is a place for women of color (WOC) who have endured any traumatic event, and as a result, struggled with feeling inadequate and alone. Being a woman of color, I understand that we share a set of unique experiences, and that there are very limited avenues where we can openly share those moments without judgement and shame, while gaining support from others, and given access to the tools needed to press forward and live a life full of new joy.

The conversation around sexual abuse is louder than ever and it needs to be. But let's not forget, when adults share their childhood trauma, it's crucial to listen and believe.

Even in 2026, children face abuse as if time hasn't moved forward.

By taking adult disclosures seriously today, we can create a safer tomorrow for our children.

This month, we commit to supporting, protecting, and empowering every child.

Child abuse is not just a moment, it can shape a child’s entire future. Here are a few important truths:
• Children who experience abuse are at higher risk for anxiety, depression, and PTSD
• Trauma can impact brain development, affecting learning, memory, and emotional regulation
• Many survivors struggle with trust, relationships, and self-worth
• Without support and intervention, the effects can continue into adulthood
