SWOP’s Summer Youth Internship applications are now open!

We believe youth are the solution, and have a voice that should be valued! We will be paying youth a liveable wage to spend a summer immersed in community organizing.

SWOP’s 8-week program serves youth ages 14-19. The program serves to provide a general overview of community organizing, paired with leadership development and extensive political education. Youth will participate in workshops, observe guest speakers, go on field trips, and plan events related to social justice and organizing.

The deadline for submissions is June 2nd. Youth between ages 14-19 are welcomed to apply. Youth will be paid $15 per hour for up to 15 hours a week. Programming will be held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 10AM-3PM.

All programs will begin the second week of June. Contact Amanda Gallegos at (505) 328-9741 or email [email protected] with any questions or concerns. Apply now via the link in our bio or by visiting swop.net: bit.ly/swopyouth2025

VIA YOUTH DAY!

On Tuesday, VIA alongside participants from Polk Middle School, SWOP, Future Focused Education, and LANM, gathered for a day at the Roundhouse. This day was marked by great enthusiasm as the youth had the opportunity to learn more about New Mexico’s legislative process and voice their concerns and perspectives about their education system. Participants also discussed “The Freedom to Dream”, a youth-driven document outlining their visions for improving their learning environments, with their legislators!
