Today, was an amazing encampment staff meeting. Even with about half out for the holiday weekend, we still had about 25 and our leadership from Texas and Clovis. In all my years of doing encampments I have never had a Cadet executive staff like this one. They came in prepared to spend the entire day productively with a design and a game plan. The only instruction I gave the executive team about the planning of this encampment from their point of view was that they needed to follow the encampment handbook, use their COC and ask questions as needed. They came in today and they focused an hour on drill, another hour on their leadership and chain of command, then they focused on different aspects of dealing with safety and health issues. They also brought radios from Texas, powered them up and went over the phonetic alphabet, talked about how to use the radios, and then went out and performed a radio mission just to make sure everybody was clear on how to use the handheld radios. After lunch they went out and did more drilling and then they worked on flight duties and on Squadron guideons.

They have set up, on their own, a web/conference call weekly to stay on track. They have been training now since March and are right where they should be.

We have one of the most cohesive and professional cadet staff I have ever seen.

As to sites, the concensus is Stallion FOB at the north end of White Sands. So that's what we are going to be pushing for. Dates remain the same.

TO All NM Wing Commanders
It is with true disappointment that I inform you that we have lost Coyote Canyon. The USAF PJs who primarily use that site need it that specific week so if we want to keep the dates we have, we have to find somewhere else to hold the Encampment. We are working on that diligently and will keep you posted. There are a few sites that may be available for the dates we have chosen, but at this time nothing is certain.
We are not washed out. Worst case scenario is that we have to change the dates, but for now, we are trying very hard to hold on to those and just move the encampment.

If you have any suggestions please email me at [email protected]

HELP! In 10 days SAF CAP will lose two members of the squadron due to relocation. These two members are my DCC, PD, ES, OP, ADMIN, Personnel, and IT officers. So from the vaste knowledge base that is the NM Wing Commanders, I need support and suggestions in how to manage until I replace these two very valuable people.

At SAF CAP today we had a great OPEN HOUSE today thanks to all of our members. We had 6 visitors drop by and share and learn. We had a nice visit with Annette Peters and Chuck Grosvenor from the Los Alamos Squadron and a nice young lady (a cub reporter from the New Mexican) who is a student pilot also dropped by to learn more about our program and meet our pilots and see our plane. Thanks everyone for your support!

The glider in Socorro is fixed and O-flights for about 6-7 cadets are open for tomorrow, Sunday 12 August. Last minute I understand but available. Contact Lt lingenfelter if you and your cadets can fly. You need to get this out ASAP!

CC's, if your squadron deosn't have its own website here is a suggestion for you. Got to this company's website and from there it's easy. Homestead™ an Intuit Company. They give 30 days free trial and then it's $4.99 plus $2.00 a month for your site and domain name. You get 5 pages and they have great features like a place people can request information and the request goes straight to your email. You can add a FB link so that your site and your FB pages are connected and this morning I even connected my squadron's website and the NM WING CAP site. You can add links and update any time and you don't have to be a web designer to get it done.
