LoboTHON is students, student organizations, and community members coming together around a common cause. In this collegiate philanthropy, student teams raise money year round through fundraising events and personal appeals. In the spring, students stand for 13.1 hours to celebrate their fundraising e
fforts and the kids they are raising money to support. LoboTHON is UNM students standing for a cause, standing to help their community, and standing to help local kids at their local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital.
-WHY WE STAND-
The main purpose of LoboTHON is to raise money and awareness for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. But why do we stand for 13.1 hours? Many of the children who are admitted into our local hospitals go through pain and suffering that most of us cannot even comprehend. The act of staying on our feet for 13.1 hours is meant to give participants a greater appreciation and understanding of the struggles these kids go through every day. Participants are faced with both mental and physical challenges in an effort to support these strong children. LoboTHON is more than just a philanthropy event; it is UNM’s way to stand in support of the brave children being treated at our local Children’s Hospitals. Simply stated, we stand For The Kids, so NO CHILD FIGHTS ALONE!
-THE EVENT-
LoboTHON is like no other event on campus. UNM’s Dance Marathon takes students through an amazing journey over the 13.1 hours they remain standing for the kids. Every hour on the hour, students partake in our morale dance taking them out of their comfort zone in the dance marathon spirit. To inspire students to remain standing, miracle families from New Mexico to share their stories and show students how their funds impact the lives of local children. LoboTHON is not only inspirational, it’s fun! Students have plenty of entertainment and activities. There are so many things to do and watch and there’s never a dull moment. There’s food, free merchandise and a free full day of entertainment. Even better, you get to do all of this with your fellow Lobos. LoboTHON is part of the ultimate UNM experience and brings you closer to both your campus and a great cause!
