New Mexico is standing firm in support of gender-affirming care for minors amidst federal Medicaid cuts. Through the Turquoise Care program, medications remain covered for transgender and gender-nonconforming individuals under 18. 🏳️‍⚧️

Understanding Your Insurance Card

Your health insurance card has important information about your coverage. It helps your doctor, clinic, medical laboratory, or pharmacy identify your health plan.

✅ Have your insurance card available EACH TIME you receive care.

Your card also includes other important information, such as:
• Your health plan name
• Your member ID number
• Customer service phone numbers

Knowing where to find this information can make it easier to ask questions about your coverage.

💡 Helpful tip: Take a photo of the front and back of your insurance card and save it on your phone. If you lose your card, you'll still have the information you need.

Earlier this summer, HANM's Loren Schoonover met with Promotoras (community health workers) to learn about the legal rights of farm and dairy workers in New Mexico. This event was a hosted by CAWA (Coalition of Agriculture Workers Association) and included presentations from Ismael Chacon (Staff Attorney at NM Legal Aid), Jessie Dixter (a second-year law student at the University Of New Mexico School of Law), and Stepanie Welch (Attorney with NMCLP).
