Christmas Eve on the Street: A Conversation I Can’t Forget

By Chas. Wm. (Chuck) Holman December 24, 2025 Today is Christmas Eve. Most people are thinking about dinner plans, gifts, and family gatherings. I spent part of today talking with two men who have none of those things—only what they can carry, what they can remember, and what they still hope for. One of those men was Paul V. Paul looks to be around 60 years old....

Today, I am reaching out with an urgent plea for help on behalf of a vulnerable couple in our community who are facing the heartbreaking prospect of eviction. Their car was broken into and the woman’s purse was stolen, including money for their rent.

Wednesday (August 28th), a judge ordered that they be evicted for non-payment. This vulnerable 67 year old couple, already struggling with the challenges of aging and disability (the husband is disabled), now faces the devastating possibility of homelessness if we cannot raise the funds needed to keep them housed. With moving costs, security deposits and rent on an apartment, they need a total of $3,000.00.

We know times are tough for many, but this is a critical moment where even a small contribution could make a life-changing difference for this couple. Our goal is to raise $3,000.00 as quickly as possible to give them the security and peace of mind they so desperately need.

Please consider making a donation today. Every dollar counts and brings us one step closer to keeping this couple in their home. If you are unable to donate at this time, sharing this message with others who might be able to help would also be immensely valuable.

Thank you for your compassion and support during this urgent time. Together, by coming together as a group of friends who care about each other we can make a difference in the lives of this couple and ensure they do not face the frightening reality of homelessness.

With gratitude,

Chas. Wm. Holman (Chuck)
