Afternoon: District Learning Assembly (DLA)
FREE and starts with lunch, followed by breakout sessions on a variety of topics helpful for club leaders and members alike

5th Annual First Responder Recognition

Albany Rotary’s Annual First Responder Recognition honors the local Police, Fire, and EMS professionals who serve our community with courage, compassion, and dedication. Each day, first responders answer the call during moments of crisis, uncertainty, and need. Their work often requires personal sacrifice, quick decisions, teamwork, and an unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of others. This special event gives our community an opportunity to pause and recognize those individuals whose service truly embodies Service Above Self. This event celebrates outstanding local first responders and the important roles their departments play in keeping Albany strong, safe, and connected. It is also a chance for community members, civic leaders, colleagues, friends, and families to come together and simply say thank you. Join Albany Rotary as we recognize the people behind the uniforms and celebrate their service, courage, and commitment to our community at the Joseph E. Zaloga American Legion Post #1520, 4 Everett Road Extension, Albany. Enjoy a delicious lunch while mingling with Rotarians, community members and leaders along with the honored guests and their colleagues. There will be heartfelt speeches, inspiring stories, and a chance to personally thank these incredible individuals for their service.

📚 September is Basic Education & Literacy Month in Rotary!

Rotary’s Areas of Focus help guide the work clubs do around the world by identifying some of the most important challenges facing our communities. From promoting peace and fighting disease to protecting the environment and supporting local economies, these areas help turn service into meaningful, lasting impact.

In SEPTEMBER, Rotary places special emphasis on Basic Education & Literacy—because education opens doors, strengthens communities, and creates opportunities for people of every age.

Rotary clubs support this Area of Focus in many ways, including:

• Donating books and school supplies
• Supporting libraries, literacy programs, and reading initiatives
• Providing scholarships and educational grants
• Partnering with schools, teachers, and youth organizations
• Offering tutoring, mentoring, and career-readiness programs
• Supporting adult literacy, English-language learning, and digital literacy
• Helping remove barriers that prevent children and adults from accessing education
• Creating service projects that encourage a lifelong love of learning
