Yankee Doodle Recognition BBQ & Kick-Off — September 3!

Join us for our annual Yankee Doodle Recognition BBQ & Kick-Off as we come together to recognize the volunteers who make Scouting happen, hear what’s going on in units throughout the district, and kick off another year of Scouting!

If you’ve never attended a district event or meeting before, this is a great one to start with. Come meet other leaders, hear what neighboring units are doing, and learn more about upcoming programs and resources.

Nominate an Outstanding Volunteer!
Every unit has people who go above and beyond. Don’t assume someone else will nominate that amazing Cubmaster, Scoutmaster, Den Leader, Committee Member, or behind-the-scenes volunteer.

We hope to see leaders and volunteers from across Yankee Doodle there!

It is with profound sadness that the Yankee Doodle District and Twin Rivers Council share the untimely passing of Regina Maier, a beloved mother, friend, Committee Chair of Pack 2253, and supporter of Troop 2053.

Our entire Scouting community was always brighter because of her presence. Her impact will not be forgotten, and she will be deeply missed.

View Regina A. Maier's obituary, send flowers, find service dates, and sign the guestbook.

After several dark summers during the COVID-19 pandemic, Camp Wakpominee is in its second summer running a new week-long scout camp. The camp’s success could be a model for other scout councils looking to revitalize their summer programming.

What I know from six years of leading Troop 163 is that these girls invigorate scouting rather than weaken it.

As wildfires continue to impact communities across the country, preparing the next generation to understand and respond to these challenges has never been more timely. So far this year, more than 40,000 wildfires have burned over 3.8 million acres across the United States, keeping firefighters and emergency responders busy nationwide.

That's why Scouting America's newest merit badge, Wildland Fire Management, is so important.

Developed in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service, the U.S. Department of the Interior, and the Society of American Foresters, this hands-on merit badge gives Scouts the opportunity to learn directly from wildfire professionals about fire ecology, wildfire behavior, prevention, emergency preparedness, firefighting careers, and the critical role fire plays in our environment.

As a Scouting alumnus, you've seen firsthand how Scouting prepares young people for life. This new merit badge continues that tradition by equipping today's Scouts with knowledge and skills that are more relevant than ever.

If you're attending the 2026 National Jamboree, stop by the Wildland Fire Management Merit Badge booth in Boulder Cove Village, July 23–25 and July 27–29, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. And don't miss the official launch ceremony on July 29 from 10:00–11:00 a.m.

Together, we can help inspire the next generation of leaders, conservationists, and public servants.
