💙 Meet Girly 💙

Those beautiful blue eyes are hard to resist!

Girly was adopted as a kitten from a PetSmart in Florida in 2016 and recently found herself looking for a new beginning when her 86-year-old owner was no longer able to care for her.

This sweet Siamese girl loves people and isn’t shy about sharing her thoughts—she can be quite vocal! Girly would prefer to be your one and only cat, as she’s not a fan of feline roommates.

Girly does have IBS and will need to remain on a prescription diet, but she’s hoping someone will look beyond that and give her the loving home she deserves.

What if the cat you were meant to love is one everyone else keeps passing by? 🧡

Meet Diamond Jack (DJ), Slots, Max, and Zeus, four incredible FELV+ boys who have been waiting far too long for families of their own.

Diamond Jack came to Whiskers with a severe burn on his neck. Today, he has traded hardship for head scratches and has become a laid back lap cat with a brand new outlook on life. His dream home would ideally include another FELV+ friend. (Approx DOB: 07/26/2023)

Slots is pure orange cat energy. If you know, you know. Life with Slots means laughter, entertainment, and never a dull moment. Looking at him today, you would never guess he was once found lifeless and in critical condition. (Approx DOB: 08/26/2023)

Max was found as a stray and seems grateful for every comfortable nap that comes his way. This gentle giant is a professional couch potato and wears the title proudly. His dream home would ideally include another FELV+ friend. (Approx DOB: 04/07/2024)

And then there's Zeus. Once living in someone's garage, he struggled to find a home because he is both FIV+ and FELV+. But Zeus doesn't let labels define him. He's laid back, loving, and simply happy to be safe. (Approx DOB: 12/29/2022)

Whiskers is one of only a few shelters in New York State that accepts FELV+ cats. While we hope every cat finds a family of their own, our no-kill, free-roaming shelter ensures they will always have a safe and loving home with us.

FELV only affects cats. It cannot spread to humans, dogs, or other animals. FELV+ cats can live happily with other FELV+ cats or as the only cat in the home.

The truth is, none of us know how much time we get with the animals we love. These boys may not have decades ahead of them, but what we do know is this: they would almost certainly have more time, more comfort, and more joy living in a home rather than waiting in a shelter.

They aren't looking for forever measured in years. They're looking for forever measured in love. 🐾

It's Make a Difference Monday!

🧡 Can you spare a few hours each week to help care for shelter cats?

Every day, over 120 cats at Whiskers depend on volunteers for their food, fresh water, clean living spaces, and daily care. Without volunteers, that care simply wouldn't happen.

Whiskers is a free-roaming, no-kill cat shelter and sanctuary run entirely by volunteers. There are no paid animal care staff. Every bowl of food, every clean litter box, every swept floor, and every comfortable bed is provided by volunteers who show up week after week because they care.

We're currently looking for dependable volunteers to join our shelter team.

🐾 Choose a morning or evening shift that fits your schedule

🐾 Volunteer on the same shift each week

🐾 Training is provided

🐾 Volunteers must be 18 or older, or at least 15 years old and accompanied by a parent or guardian

Our volunteers feed cats, scoop litter boxes, wash dishes, do laundry, clean rooms, and help keep the shelter safe, healthy, and comfortable for the kitties who call Whiskers home.

Many of our volunteers have full-time jobs, school, families, and busy lives. What matters most is consistency. You choose a shift that works for you, and the cats can count on seeing you every week.

Volunteering at Whiskers isn't just helping cats. It's becoming part of a community of people who work together to give homeless cats a safe place to live and a chance to find loving homes.

If you attended our Sound of Mewsic Gala, you may recognize this beautiful face! Maria was featured on our gala logo and graced the front cover of the event program, where she proudly represented the beloved cast of The Sound of Music.

Today, we’re thrilled to share that Maria has found her forever home! Less than a month ago, she was adopted, and she’s already settling in wonderfully with her new family and kitty sibling.

Maria spent her time in Whiskers’ care living in a loving foster home, and now she has a home of her very own. Stories like hers remind us why foster homes, adopters, and supporters are so important to our mission.

Congratulations, Maria! We wish you and your forever family a lifetime of love and happiness. 💕🐾
