⛪️ CHURCHES — do you want to become a safer, more welcoming church home for families with disabilities… but honestly have no idea where to start?

Maybe you want autistic kids included in Sunday school, but your volunteers don't feel equipped. Maybe you've thought about a sensory room, communication boards or even starting a special needs ministry, but you're sitting there like… okay, but HOW do we actually do this? 😅

WE WANT HELP. ❤️

One of the things God has really put on my heart with As For Me And My House Ministries is helping churches learn how to welcome and INCLUDE people with disabilities and their families.

And I'm not talking about needing some huge budget, a fancy sensory room or a bunch of professionals. Sometimes it's literally learning what stimming is. Understanding that nonverbal does NOT mean unaware. Having a communication board available. Giving a kid a safe place to move their body. Teaching volunteers that church doesn't have to look exactly the same for every child.

I can help with sensory spaces, communication boards, visual schedules, volunteer education, autism awareness, parent intake forms and just figuring out what inclusion could realistically look like in YOUR church.

Because these families need Jesus too. Their siblings need a church family. Their parents need somewhere they don't feel like they're constantly apologizing for their child. And that child deserves to grow up knowing they have a place in the body of Christ. ❤️

So if you're a pastor, children's ministry leader, volunteer or even just someone sitting in the pew thinking, “Man, I wish our church did more for these families…” MESSAGE ME.

You don't have to know everything. You don't have to have everything perfectly set up.

You just have to be willing to make room. 🫶♾️

Let's build church homes where families like mine don't have to wonder if there's a place for them.

If you are an autism parent, TAG YOUR LOCAL CHURCHES.

Jesus,
Tonight I’m praying for the special needs mama who feels alone in the mess of it all. 🤍

The mama whose house never seems to stay clean because she's caring for a child who needs her constantly. The laundry is piled up, there are dishes in the sink, therapy stuff everywhere, somebody needs a snack, somebody needs changed, and she can't even remember the last time she sat down without being needed. Lord, meet her right there. Not once she gets everything cleaned up or finally gets a quiet moment with her Bible. Right there in the middle of the mess.

Remind her that You aren't bothered by the noise. You aren't uncomfortable with the stimming or the meltdown happening in the next room. You see the things nobody else sees... the appointments, the sleepless nights, the worry, the advocating, and how much of herself she pours out every single day.

And Lord, sometimes we LOVE this life and these babies so fiercely while also admitting that it's hard. Sometimes we don't need advice. We just need somebody to see us.

So Jesus, see that mama tonight. 🥹

When she whispers, “Lord, I can't do this today,” remind her she doesn't have to do it without You. Give her enough grace for this moment and enough strength for the next thing in front of her. Sit with her on the kitchen floor if that's where she finally breaks down. Meet her in the bathroom when she's hiding for five minutes just trying to breathe. Be there in the loud, beautiful, exhausting mess of a life that may look completely different than she ever imagined.

And remind her that even on the days she feels completely alone, she never actually is.

You are right there in the mess with her. ❤️
In Jesus' name, amen. We love you.

🚨 WE'RE TAKING JESUS OUTSIDE THE FOUR WALLS! 🙌❤️

We are still gathering Bibles + hygiene items for our next outreach!

As For Me And My House Ministries will be setting up at Fall Fest this year, and EVERYTHING at our booth will be completely FREE. 🙌

We'll have free Bibles, hygiene/self-care items, hot dogs 🌭 and water. We'll also be bringing autism awareness to our community and sharing some resources for families who may need them.

And most importantly, we'll be there to love on people and pray with anyone who stops by and needs it. ❤️ No pressure. No strings attached. Just showing our community the love of Jesus in a practical way.

But we need some help getting enough stuff together to give out!

🚨🚨
If you'd like to help us prepare, I'll put our Amazon registry in the comments.
👉You can purchase something directly from there, or donations can be sent through
👉Venmo at and we'll use them toward Bibles, hygiene items, food and outreach supplies.

Even grabbing ONE Bible or ONE hygiene item helps us put something into someone's hands for free. 🫶

We want people to leave our booth fed, prayed for, loved on, and knowing that Jesus loves them.

Thank you to everyone who has already helped us get this ministry out into the community. ❤️

AUTISM + THE CHURCH — PART 5 ❤️
LET 👏 THEM 👏 STIM 👏

Okay church friends… 😂
If you see a kid in children's church flapping their hands, rocking, spinning in circles, pacing the room, humming, jumping up and down, or doing something that makes you think, “What on earth are they doing?” 🤣

They might just be stimming.
And listen… sometimes they're overwhelmed.
Sometimes they're regulating.
Sometimes the room is too loud, too bright, too busy, too MUCH.
But sometimes???
They're just REALLY happy. 😂❤️
Reagan can flap those little hands like she's about to take FLIGHT when she's excited. 🤣 She may run up and down the aisle like she caught the Holy Ghost if she feels the Spirit.
And that's okay.

We don't need to stop every movement.
We don't need every kid sitting criss-cross applesauce, hands in their lap, staring directly at the teacher to prove they're listening. 😂

Some kids listen while rocking.
Some listen while pacing.
Some need something in their hands.
Some might be bouncing around while you're thinking they haven't heard ONE WORD you've said… and then surprise you by showing you they absolutely did. 🤣

Unless they're hurting themselves or someone else, sometimes the accommodation is literally just:

Let. Them. Stim.

Give them some space. Hand them a sensory toy. Let them wear the headphones. Let them wiggle. Let them flap. Let them experience church in the body God gave them. ❤️

Because their joy might look different than ours.
Their worship might look different.
Their listening might look different.
And that's okay.

Jesus said, “Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not…” — Mark 10:14

He didn't add, “but make sure they can sit still first.” 😂🙌

They belong here too. ❤️

AUTISM + THE CHURCH — PART 4 ❤️
You don't need a whole sensory room.

One thing I really want churches to understand is that accommodating autistic and disabled children does NOT have to mean spending thousands of dollars or building an entirely new ministry. Sometimes a child just needs a place to regulate.

⛪️ Pick a quiet corner of your children's area. Add a beanbag or soft chair. A small basket of fidgets. Noise-reducing headphones. A weighted lap pad. Maybe a visual timer or a few picture cards.
That's it. Literally.

And please don't make the calming corner a punishment. ❗️

It isn't the place we send a child because they're being "bad." It's a place they can choose when their body is telling them everything is getting to be too much. A child covering their ears during worship may not be disrespectful. If they are pacing during the Bible lesson may still be listening. Rocking, humming or flapping may be regulating their body so they CAN stay in the room.

And sometimes giving them five minutes in a quieter space is the very thing that allows them to come back and participate.

We don't have to make every child worship, learn or participate exactly the same way to teach them about Jesus. (THIS IS KEY) We arent trying to teach them to be more like the rest of us, we are figuring out what part of the body of Christ they are and helping them grow in that!

The goal isn't to make them look like everybody else. The goal is to help them know they belong. ❤️

“Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not…” — Mark 10:14 (KJV)
🔥 Don't let sensory needs, communication differences, behaviors, or lack of accommodations become the thing that “forbids” a child from coming to Jesus.

A sensory-friendly church doesn't have to start with a big budget.

Sometimes it starts with one corner and someone willing to understand. ❤️

08/19/2026

The enemy wants you defeated. Jesus wants you free. ❤️

Depression can make you feel isolated, exhausted and hopeless. But those feelings don't get the final word.

Sometimes you have to climb above the noise and remember who your God is.

Keep praying. Keep fighting. Keep reaching out. We would love to talk to you as well 🫶

There is still hope. There is still purpose. And Jesus is still King. ❤️

Autism & the Church Series ❤️ Day 3: Help Them Find Their Place in the Body
🧩 TAG YOUR CHURCH

My heart is especially toward autism because that's the world I know, but this conversation is so much bigger than autism. This is for ALL of our children with disabilities.

Our disabled children are not problems to be fixed. They are people to be loved, served, discipled... and raised to be SERVANTS too.

I think sometimes we get so focused on how to accommodate children with disabilities in church that we forget to help them find their place IN the church.

The Bible tells us the Church is one body with many members. We don't all have the same job, we don't all have the same abilities, and we don't all serve in the same way. But every single part matters.

“For the body is not one member, but many.”
— 1 Corinthians 12:14
I use this verse a lot on this page... because its SO powerful.

It includes our children with disabilities.
They aren't just people for the Church to serve. They can serve too. ❤️

If you have an older child or teenager who is able, let them help in the nursery. Let them greet. Let them pass things out. Let them help with younger kids. Find something they CAN do, give them some ownership over it, and then HYPE THEM UP. Let them hear, “We need you here. You did a great job. You're part of this.”

And start when they're little! Give them a job. Let them carry the basket. Hand out crayons. Pick up papers. Push the button for the worship music. Help put toys away. It doesn't have to be some huge thing to matter.

And for our kids with higher support needs or physical, intellectual, developmental, or communication disabilities, serving may look completely different. Maybe they put ONE toy back in the bin. Maybe they hand something to the teacher. Maybe they use an AAC device, point to a picture, use a gesture, or need someone right beside them helping. That's still participatiion, serving and still belonging.

We have to stop measuring what someone can give by what everyone else can do. ❗️❗️
Lets say that again for the people in the back!
We have to stop measuring what someone can give by what everyone else can do. ❗️❗️

I don't want children with disabilities growing up believing church is just somewhere people take care of them. I want them growing up knowing, “This is MY church. I belong to the Body of Christ. God gave me a purpose. There is a place for me here, and I can serve Jesus here too.”

My heart may have started with autism, but this is a whole community. Every child deserves to be discipled. Every child deserves the opportunity to serve. Every child deserves to know they belong.

Inclusion isn't just making room for them to sit in the classroom.

It's helping them find their place in the Body. ❤️
